| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 25, 2003 Seems to have a bit of a one dimessional apple flavor as compared to some of the other good Belgian syles. Aroma is mainly sweet apples.
Beer pours with undersized head for a Belgian, which pretty much completely dissipates rather quickly. Tastes OK, but again is overwhelming apples, without the depth of flavor and yeastiness of most Belgians. Better examples aboud. Indra (2030), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 22, 2001 Updated: May 24, 2008Aroma is fairly complex, having some spiciness, yeasty aromas, alcohol, syrupy maltiness, and some of the sugar in it, too. Bottle had the cap sealed in red wax, interesting, and somewhat of a puzzle for the first few moments. Carbonation is very fine, with a thin head. Color is a reddish amber. Flavor profile is reasonably satisfying, with the sweetness blending into the fruity maltiness quite nicely. Has a nice warming alcoholic finish, but has a very smooth palate for a beer of this caliber. Finishes rather long, and has a great spicy, alcoholic aftertaste. Consumed at approximately 60 degrees F. Recommended. Radek Kliber (3962), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 22, 2004 Lighter, slightly fruity and yeasty notes some alcohol in background. Bright, orange amber, white head. Pleasurable to sip, decent spectrum of flavours, sugars, malt based. Sweet but not over board. VENOM (941), Connecticut, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 13, 2002 Glowing amber. Dense, sticky light tan foam. Streaming carbonation. Aroma of Belgian yeast, candied sugar, estery alcohol, Goldings hops and crystallized caramel. First sip is rich, velvety and thickly coating with a caramelized brown sugar sweetness. Immediate alcohol burn in the throat. Mix of hops and caramel in the mostly clean aftertaste. Softly spicy. Smooth and delicate. Medium thick body. Lightly yeasty. Notable caramel maltiness beneath the heavily candied sweetness, which is never sticky even as it warms. Not very complex or thought provoking but good enough, especially at 10% ABV and staggeringly drinkable. Alcohol becomes more estery and pronounced in flavor as it’s warming. Finishes intensified in sweetness, spiciness and yeast flair. A good but unremarkable brew. Jake Barnes (456), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

This beer looks like the inside of a pumpkin on halloween night; just blazingly orange. Sweet aroma of toffee and almonds. The flavor is very sweet but never quite become cloying. Very smooth. Quite a nice brew. herbjones (742), Orange, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 8, 2002 Pours a nice dark golden color. Nice head that disappears without a trace. Aroma is pretty spicy with a bit of sweetness and alcohol. Taste is full of citrus and sugar. Very sweet and spicy. Alcohol is present but thats to be expected of the high ABV. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 17, 2004 Thin head, Belgian aroma. Candi sugar and strong yeasty (alcohol) flavor in every sip. Definitely good "big beer". I’d like to get two more bottles; one to cellar and one to drink now. vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 20, 2007 Pours clear bronze with a soapy tan head. The aroma has lots of candi sugar, toffee, caramel and Belgium funk - it somes off as a sweet barley wine with a Belgium twist. Thick sticky body with carbonation that is fairly soft. The taste starts sweet and malty with brown sugar, mollases, and light Belgium funk - quite cloying. The finish is still sweet, but not as much so. There’s more of an earthy and spicy side mixed in with the sweetness. For the first third of the bottle this comes off more as a Barleywine than a Quad. Then the rest of the way down the bottle it starts having more of a Belgium earthiness and the brown sugar starts resembling the Belgium candi sugar more giving it a Belgium taste, but more of a Belgium strong ale than a quad. If you go into this looking for an enjoyable strong ale instead of a true quad you should be happy with it, especially for the price.
