| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 12, 2009 Nice amber color in my glass. One finger head that leaves a slight film on top of the liquid. Slightly decent lacing.
BIG maltiness. Very sweet malty nose. Sweet candy sugars. Butterey, yeasty bread. Light citrus and banana notes.
Quite abit more mellow than I expected, but that is not a bad thing. Very nice caramel notes. Apple and banana notes. Sweet malt flavor. Big yeasty bread profile. Slight spiciness on the finish. The alcohol bite I expected at 10% is not here at all.
Feels very creamy in the mouth, yet still smooth and drinkable. Almost velvet-like.
Drinking several bottles of this in a session would be easy. The drawback is that with 10% ABV, you won’t remember doing it.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 22, 2009 Bottle. Pours a nice dark amber color with a frothy, off-white head. Aromas of bananas, malts, cherry, and a hint of orange. Texture is lively to start, then quickly goes smooth with a fantastically oily mouthfeel. Flavors of currants, bananas, and actually a nice mellow malty taste. I didn’t have high expectations for this beer but it exceeded expectations. williamherbert (466), Syracuse, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 29, 2009 The appearance is thick, murky, plum-red. Head dies fast. Color and body are beautiful, though the head does evaporate. The smell is white wine all the way, and the alcohol comes in like gin. Sweet grapes and sour plums. Charcoal ashes in the nose, as well as nutmeg. Really complex. Gritty grain bill as it warms up, and another wave of that 10% alcohol. The taste is sweet grapes, perfume and rose petals. Heavy alcohol presence. Red apple and pears. Starts harsh and bitter. Finishes sweet and fruity. The malts emerge as the temperature rises, with a finish of dark stone fruits. The feel is severely thick and syrupy. High-density, like a red-wine. Smooth and oliy and big. This is a solid quad all around; it’s complex and bittersweet. Like a hefty red wine and a fruity white. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 28, 2007 A dark cherry brown with a very nice spicey aroma, maybe cinimon-sugar. Definately a favorite. Despite the high "octane" went down very well. cewldre (268), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | May 3, 2006 Tasted of a lot of fruits, mostly some sort of like overripe banana flavor. Some complimentary spice in this one as well. I think it lived up to the name I was told it was often referred as, "The Sinister Minister" Rotorhead87 (117), Temple, Texas, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 14, 2007 Deep amber with little head. Very complex flavors, more than I can pick out. I do know that it tastes wonderful. I expected a lot from a quad, and it delivers. Not quite in the same league as St. Bernardus, but quite close.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 11, 2008 Fantastically crimson with a cloudy pour and wispy head. Its aromas are not unlike strawberry, wheat, and honey.
The actual flavor of this beer is rather tart with piquant, toasty notes that linger.
The Reverend would pair nicely with apples and a younger raw milk gouda to offset the sweetness.
