11/21/08 notes: bomber, tried fairly deep into a big beer tasting. Gorgeous bottle. Aroma is fruity, with orange, sugar, maybe some peach. Flavor right from the start primarily sweet, with some nice touches of fruit and spice. Finishes with a hint of bittering alcohol, which it manages to effectively minimize.

Aroma is strong, very malty, with a rich fruity overtone and hints of caramel and toffee. Color is a beautiful clear reddish copper, and head is fairly thick and fine-bubbled. Flavor is sublime - malty, fruity, nutty, strong hop hints, touches of caramel and sweetness, even a teeny bit of smoke. Texture is smooth, and aftertaste includes a hint of brandy and a soupcon of sweetness. Definitely a beer to be revered. ;)

Appearance: Pours a crystal clear, orangey-amber body with a well-formed, light beige head. Smell: Toasted nuts and bread followed by a distinct yeastiness and notes of sugar and alcohol coated fruits. Taste: Sweet, bready maltiness with a caramel and honey sweetness jacked up by plenty of candi sugar. A tad yeasty. Peach schnapps soaked fruit flavors of fig and dried cherries. The tiniest pinch of nutmeg. Spicy hops with a medium, resilient bitterness that joins the various other flavors bouncing around the palate. Very faint wood component. Finishes sweet, fruity, and quite warming. Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation. Slight stickiness to the mouthfeel. Drinkability: A fine, respectable attempt at the style, but comes up a bit short when stacked against the superior Belgian examples. Still though, it is an enjoyable sipper from the good folks over at Avery.

Orange pour, hefty white head. Uh oh, very floral aromas, some hops, characteristics of white ales. Overly lively in the mouth and a bit thin. Too much light red fruits, citrus, hop bitterness. To me this was just not a quad. No molasses, malt of any sort, raisin, doughiness. Similar to most Belgian double and tripels that I do not care for.

12 oz bottle pours a deep golden color with orange highlights/ Sweet aroma with some fruit in there. Sweet and thick body that fits the style.
