Commercial Description:
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

Dark brown, low head. Plays well on malt, hop, some alcohol in the end. Simple, nice. Medium body, flat, alcohol. Purchased in ølkonsortiet.

Bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown with a beige/light brown head. Sweet, malty, dark fruit aroma. A bit cloying. Flavour is a delicate blend of sweet dark fruits, subdued hops and a remote roasted note. Liquorice finish with slight wine-like notes and a bit of alcohol thrown in. Lingering grassy/apple note. A nice beer, even if I found these types a bit on the heavy side. 18-10-09.

Bottle. Poured near black with a slight red tinge and a thin light brown head. Aroma has a strong alcohol sent with some smokey malt characters. Flavor also has a bit of a harsh alcohol flavor that overwhelms the malty flavor. It may be past its peak at this point.

Almost stout like in appearance, nearly opaque dark brown to black with tan head. Nose is typical weizenbock - dark malts, bananna fruit, bread. On the palate is a big caramal to roasted malt sweetness followed by hefty alcohol warmth. Finish is long and alcoholic. Definitely a high % alcohol bock beer.

Medium brownish head. Hazy dark red brown body. Papery syrupy malty aroma with caramel and alcohol notes. Dryish-sweet raisiny licorice and soy taste with alcohol and paper notes, with some vanilla and roasty chocolate. Rounded smooth mouthfeel with alcohol heat. Fullish body. Dry chocolate and vanilla aftertaste with wooden notes. Was told this was perhaps a bit past its prime at 3-4 years of age. (0.655l bottle, Oslo beer junta tasting.)

Flaske: Overraskende frisk. Flot dybrød/brun næsten uigennemsigtig øl med et lille skumhoved. God duft af bær og en smule hvede. Smagen er domineret af balanceret alkohol på den gode måde. Bitter finish. Oloroso karakter med en tør eftersmag. Virkelig godt lagret. Super øl.

Bottle@Oslo Øljunta Olympen gathering. A low beige head upon a barely translucent, dark brown colored body. Vinous aroma, soft malty with faint caramel and a whiff of dark bread and dried fruits. Mellow and rather bland malt body, soft and vinous fruitiness. Low carbonation level. Feels flat in the mouth. Mild malty finish. Could have been a really nice one, but this beer is obviously oxidized. Hope I’ll get another chance to taste it. Meanwhile, re-rate is pending.
