Commercial Description:
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

Bottle@Home. Milky aroma with a hint of banana and lightly smoked, but also butterscotch and a hint of varnish. Dark brown color, beige head, fair lace. Light sweet, caramallized banana, licorice and chocolate. Soft and milky mouthfeel. Very nice, could use some complexity though.

Bottled. I’m always quite hesitant with Avery brews. Some are absolutely fantastic, but others are quite disappointing (though not bad). So I did not expect a lot from this one, but it turns out to be very nice. Hazy redbrown color, medium off-white head. Aroma of chocolat, slight malty, slight yeasty. Strong malty taste, milk chocolat, caramel. Smooth and silky bod mouthfeel. Very nice.

Dutch Ratebeer Meeting. Clear brown coloured, brown head. Lactic aroma, stout-like, some alcvohol, fruity notes. Sweet liquorice flavour. Lingering finish. Perhaps overly alcoholic in flavour.

Pours deep red/brown, medium to thick on the texture, thin head (almost no carbonation), coffee candy flavor, sweet finish, sours on the long finish. The one I drank was very mature and aged quickly in the glass.

The beer departs the 22 ounce brown bottle a deep brown with nice ruby highlight, the head is tan in color, the texture creamy and the size about two fingers, as it decomposes, the lace forms a tight skirt upon the glass. Nose has a nice fruity aroma, cotton candy like, hints of malt also present. Start is nicely malted, sweet with a moderate to full feel to the palate. Finish has a determined acidity, the hops pleasant, somewhat sweet and dry the aftertaste lingers long on the palate, quite good in my book.

Dark brown color with expected wheat flavor. Another very good brew from Avery.
