Commercial Description:
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

Poured black with brown hues from the bomber with a nearly non existent white head. Looks kind of like flat diet coke. When the bottle first openned I smelled strong vanilla, in the pint glass it smelled sweet and malty. Initial flavor has some vanilla, good malt, only slightly roasted. The sweetness is nice but not overwhelming. You can definitely feel the alcohol on the after taste which is clean despite the heat. It’s Avery, you’ll like it.

Deep brown, quite clear head. Aroma of pears, malts (strong roasted, straw, molasses), liquor. Nice. Moderately bitter, lightly sweet initial flavour. Moderately bitter finish. Quite heavily bodied.

LCRBM2. Very dark brown with good coffee/malt. Really quite lovely and drinkable. Strong though. Sherry. Alcohol and dry coffee malt. Got a bit much after a couple of sips though.

Bottled - LCRBM2 - A dark brown coloured beer with no head. The aroma is very sweet with lots of alcohol. Almost a brandy like touch to it. There are hops and smoke also. The taste is hoppy yet wheaty. Sweet caramel flavours and nuts. Very tasty, and a typically American take on a Weizen Bock.

Pours murky, hazy brown with ruby hints; head is tan, creamy, fluffy and mostly lasts. Nose is nice with a caramel and toffee character to add to the spicy, clovey, banana esters. The flavor shifts towards the dopplebock aspects; caramel, chocolate, nutty, slightly roasty and toasty, with the estery flavors sticking around along with a fruity character. It is a little sweet, but it is somewhat appropriate and it does do a good job of hiding the hardly noticible alcohol. Palate is medium bodied but with a soft, chewy, somewhat creamy texture. I really liked this one, but I don’t really know why it is. Avery sure has a way of creating and extending the boundaries of every style of beer. Certainly different from any beer you will try, but it will not blow you away.

bottle-deep amber almost brown with a small kacki head that left unoticed. big dark fruit, banana ester, very sweet nose but not overly for this style. some nice red grape notes as well. some light coca in there in the background. lots of esters on the flavor with the aformentioned dark fruit (pears, plums and some fig-esque notes). body is kind of thin for the abv but had a good mouthfeal to make up for it. carbonation is pleasant and distributes the complex fruity flavors well. I dig it as one of the better avery beers.

Pours a deep brown, reddish with very little tan head. Big malty and sweet aroma, kinda chocolatey, touch of yeast. The flavor is mainly sweet maltyness, brownsuagr, maple syrup predominate. A bit of fruityness, maybe raisins & dates. Has a chcolatey aspect, with a light yeast background. It has a syrupy body, and is a bit viscous. Has a late subtle nuttyness. It’s pretty sweet & rich in flavor, alcohol is present. Not too drinkable. Something is also lacking to fully develop the flavor.

Dark brown coloured, small off white head. Sweet coffee-caramel fruity aroma with some yeasty alcoholic touches. Full body, strong caramel fruity and yeasty alcoholic finish. Good one, although rather sweet.
