Commercial Description:
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

LCRBM2: Banana and grapes in the almost vinous aroma and flavor. Brown sugar aftertaste. Indeed, not very subtle.

Red-foxy amber, small amberish head. Alcohol & higher alcohols. Fusels, heated yeast esters. In the taste, licorice, sweet, alcoholic, no wheat, no extra esters. Burning, cloying and oily, viscous. This is not really very subtle, and not Adam’s best. Pushing the yeast to the limit, yes?

[2nd Low Countries RateBeer meeting] Butterscotch, roasted malty sweetish aroma. Clear, brown coloured with a light brown head. Taste is quite sweet, caramel malty, some sugar and fruit. Nice, but too sweet.

Drk burgandy leather with thin oily head. Nose is heavy roast with astringent olives and wheat. Flavour is far too astringent with some roasted cola. lightly chewy.

I have a hard time rating beers of this style without comparing them to Aventinus.... and well this just dosn’t hold a candle to that beer. Pours a brown/red color with a small tan head. Light aroma of sugar, grain and very faint yeast. flavor is watered down with more sweet maltiness, wheat and fruit. As usual with most Avery beers the alcohol was "in your face", which I don’t usually mind, but didn’t fit with this beer. Maybe some ageing will mellow that out some.

Bottle. Dark brown body, tan foamy head. Brown sugar, fruity caramel, bubblegum sweetness and alcohol in the aroma. Very fruity flavor - apple/strawberry along with citric acid over sweet caramelly malt. Good mouthfeel. I like the combination of fruit and sweet malt on this guy.

Bomber. Pours to a cola looking body with a thick bubbly/creamy dark tan head. The aroma is bready with some molasses and toffee. Estery, black German bread. The flavor is alcoholic molasses, deep charred banana chocolate, black German bread. The palate is intensely warming to the throat and the stomach. Slick velvety feel. 7, 3, 8, 5, 15 = 3.7

Rerate: Rich cola colored body with a creamy tan head and awesome lacing. The aroma is light banana and wheat bread. Sort of banana’s foster-ish. Light pecan pie. The flavor is dark toasted wheat, sort of Bell’s Wheat 6-ish. The palate is moderately bodied and mouthwatering. 7, 4, 8, 3, 14 = 3.6
