Commercial Description:
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

22 oz bottle....Pours a thinnish dark head, over a dark brown body.....nose of bready malt layers, with additional fruits.....tastes of many fruits and malts with hop presence. Mouthfeel excellent. These comment are from notes of a tasting done in August 2006.

(Bottled, 0.66l) Very dark reddish brown with a small, tanned head. Sweetish, banana-estery aroma with mild roastiness and some fusely alcohol. Fruity and peppery-spicy flavor with moderately roasted malt, and a quite strong, burning alcohol presence. Medium, slightly thin body can’t quite hide the alcohol. Lowish carbonation. Quite Imperial Stout -like (hoppy and roasty) for a Weizen Bock. Not bad, but deserves a big minus for the alcoholic feel. Gets more tolerable with yeast, though.

22 oz bottle at a Nertz party. One of the favorites of the night. Sweet aromas with hints of banana. Dark fruit flavors with some spice and more banana. Very very good

22 ounce bottle courtesy of mcbackus. Thanks! Reddish brown color with a minimal head. Very bready aroma with some banana notes. Taste is very similar with some caramel and nutty notes as well. Medium body.

Crushed with Jakebra. Very interesting. Smells like a bourbon barrel. Flavor is sweet but finishes surprisingly hoppy. My first Weizen Bock, but I’m digging the style based on this one.

Bottle, thanks ekstedt. Dark brown to black with beige head. Raisins, burnt notes, malty, liquorice and anis seed to the nose. Sweetish, dull taste.

Bottle (bomber) from Ølbutikken. Dark copper, small head. Burnt sugar, some dark fruits, no wheat character whatsoever. Medium bodied and smooth, quite sweet. Had it next to Aventinus, which kicked as with this quite crappy brew.
