Commercial Description:
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

22 oz. Bottle, Aroma was sweet and of alcohol. Dark red body with small head. Thus beer was sweet from start to finish. Had some doppelbocks lately but none this sweet or high on alcohol content. Detected some notes of burnt bread also in the flavor. This was a little harsh on the palate and struggled to down 2nd glass from bomber.

This is a very attractive appearing beer pouring dark mahogeny with some really nice ruby ride colors apparant when held to the light. The head is nice and thick and flufy, totally retained and dark beige in color. The aroma picks up where the appearance leaves off with a really nice opening roasted malt note, some nuttiness, wheat aroma, as well as some dark fruit notes and just a dash of spice. The flavor is nice as well, but I am going to take one point off for alcoholic heat. The flavor compliment the aromas, with some dark fruit flavors, a bit of wheatiness, some candy sugar like sweetness as well. This beer had some great potential buy needed just a bit more subtlety to be great.

Clear brown with reddish hues, low head production. Caramel, toast, and chocolate aromas; tingling carbonation but a sense of being a little thin (though there is some sweet stickiness that makes this effect moderate if anything); decent flavors up front, including a strong banana streak, with notes of alcohol, leather, and burnt sugar (as when cooking) in the end. Not bad. I’m glad I shared the bomber with my mother-in-law; I wouldn’t have wanted the whole thing.

Strong caramel aroma with lots of plumb and a bit of a savoriness to it. Also smells very creamy and wheaty. Color is dark brown with a creamy white head. This beer exudes richness without even needing to let you taste it. First taste is not as sweet as I expected. Lots of creaminess and roast flavors. Follow up sips show some alcohol and lots of wheat and roast flavors. A bit like buttered whole wheat toast. Nice. Sweetness comes with time as do some plum and other fresh fruit flavors. It ends up being a very comfortable beer. I’d like to try this with some chocolate with snow falling outside. It feels like a nice warming sort of beer. Body is medium to heavy and a fair amount of cloying that seems appropriate. I like it.

22 oz bottle. Poured a clear, deep garnet with a short-lived cap of yellowy-beige head. Nose was rich and malty.. with dried cocoa, elderberries, peppery spices, and wheaty banana esters were all in there... along with woodsy, earthy, and leafy notes... nicely complex. The flavors were equally-exciting... with rich and sweet malts throughout (cocoa, spices, berries).. accented by wheaty/banana-ey tart notes and a woody presence. The finish was long and sweet.. and a fine culmination for the drink. The alcohol presence rose as this warmed, but the brew’s balance maintained. Great stuff!

Tons of grape aroma. Dark dark amber color - almost brown. Nice smooth palate. Little alcohol flavor as this one warms up. I know that’s a big surprise from Avery(tongue in cheek). This is good and I’m not usually a big bock fan. Lots of flavors but in all honesty I’m unable to seperate them from one another. They blend together nicely.

This beer is a dark reddish-brown color and has a thin beige head with fair retention. Thin sheets of lacing. The aroma is big on toasted malt, along with some chocolate and a bit of smoke. Rich body with a nice roasted character. Sweet malt, grain and chocolate flavors are all noticeable. It seems to lean more heavily to the Doppelbock side but there is an interesting hint of wheat here and there. Either way it is a great blend and one of the best Weizen Bocks I have had. At 9.5% ABV it has a nice alcohol presence too. The finish is long and sweet, with a hint of bitter hops and alcohol burn on the tail end. Very good throughout.

Bottle. Dark opaque brown with small light brown head. Yeasty aroma of cookies, wheat, dark cherries, vanilla and banana. Fruity and yeasty flavour of vherries, banana, sweet licorice, rose petals and spices. Full bodied. Vinous aftertaste of licorice, banana, black pepper and alcohol.
