Commercial Description:
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

A hazy deep red beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet and very malty with quite strong notes of roasted malt, as well as lighter notes of rye bread and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel, as well as lighter notes of spices and roasted sausages - I have no idea what gives me that last impression. The end brings a slight alcohol burn in the throat. Tasted this blind and found no traces of the wheat - closer to a standard doppelbock than a weizenbock. All in all I’m not that fond of this beer.

(Bottle 65 cl) Clear, reddish brown with a beige head. Vinous, alcoholic aroma. Quite full-bodied with sweetish notes of dried and overripe fruit. Somewhat sweet malt and some accents of wood. No real bitterness but quite some alcohol in the finish. Quite delicate. 061006

[Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm] Very dark brown, small head. Aroma of banana and burnt malt. Sweet with clean rounded mouthfeel. Plenty of medicinal esters. Near full bodied with notes of chocolate and molasses. Syrupy finish with plenty of candy, caramel and banana. Flavourful, but somewhat raw and unrefined.

Bottle @ Københavnske Øldage 2007 in Copenhagen. Unclear medium brown color with a average forthy / fizzy fair lacing mostly diminishing off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, molasses / bread, roadsted, toffee, light alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long duration. Very nice balance ! Body is full, texture is oily, syrupy, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic.
