Dark, dark, brown with a thin quickly dying light brown head. Plums and raisins. The sweetness is big. No lacing here. A meaty beer. Big malt. As it warms, you get a slight chocolate aroma. Big alcohol nose with a big mouth. The side of your tongue actually burns. This furnace has heat. larsga (2959), Oslo, Norway

Papery syrupy malty aroma with caramel and alcohol notes. Dryish-sweet raisiny licorice and soy taste with alcohol and paper notes, with some vanilla and roasty chocolate. Rounded smooth mouthfeel with alcohol heat. Fullish body. Dry chocolate and vanilla aftertaste with wooden notes. Was told this was perhaps a bit past its prime at 3-4 years of age. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 27, 2006 I understand the mixed reviews for this beer. It looks like a standard bock, black, and lightly carbonated. The hgh ABV is not in the aroma, but there is caramel and some smoke. Flavor is sweet with fruit and sugar; raisins, sweet cherry, fermenting apples. The alcohol is also in the flavor as well, but it is not unpleasant. The wheat presence is clear, and it puts a softer edge on what would otherwise be a poweful doppelbock. ante (2941), Stockholm, Sweden

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 13, 2006 Bottle. Malty banana nut bread aroma - heavy on the nuts with alcohol apparent. Opaque dark reddish brown with no head. Sweet walnut flavor up front with banana and clove flavor coming through next with an astringent alcohol finish. Body was lighter than I expected. Well blended with a very nice mixture of the Weizen and Doppelbock characteristics. A great beer. Dogbrick (2855), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 13, 2006 This beer is a dark reddish-brown color and has a thin beige head with fair retention. Thin sheets of lacing. The aroma is big on toasted malt, along with some chocolate and a bit of smoke. Rich body with a nice roasted character. Sweet malt, grain and chocolate flavors are all noticeable. It seems to lean more heavily to the Doppelbock side but there is an interesting hint of wheat here and there. Either way it is a great blend and one of the best Weizen Bocks I have had. At 9.5% ABV it has a nice alcohol presence too. The finish is long and sweet, with a hint of bitter hops and alcohol burn on the tail end. Very good throughout.
