Commercial Description:
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

Rerate. My other bomber is going to be rated now, both from boboski as bonuses in a trade. Pours a clear mahogany with a half finger quickly fading brown head. Aroma of chocolate covered bananas, yeast, spicy alcohol, sugar cookie, and light soy. Flavor is slighly saltier with the soy, but the chocolate covered banana is still there. Spicy alcohol has mellowed a bit, and some raisins and sugar cookie are present. Medium to full body with low carbonation. Still pretty decent, but I’m not sad that I have no more of this. Old Rating follows. 22oz bomber, Brewed in 2006. Pours a deep ruby with a one finger tan head. Aroma of some chocolate and roasty malts, light banana and wheat, some dark fruits (figs and dates). Maybe a little ETOH as well. Flavor has some faint bananas and yeast that are blown away by strong roasty and chocolate malts, a little soy sauce and a little too much warming alcohol almost to the point of being harsh. There are also caramel malts in there. Moderate soy/bitter lingering finish. Full bodied with moderate sharp carbonation. Letting this lie down for at least another six months wouldn’t be a bad idea, but maybe I dunno what I’m talking about. I’m having trouble rating this one--I can’t tell if I do or don’t like it--for now it’s staying as a 3.4 7-4-7-3-13--3.4

Rating #1300! Bomber bottle rated on Halloween Night! Big sweetness in the nose. Smells of juicy raisins and sugar-coated plums. Poured into a Sam glass, it’s dark brown at the thinner bottom, then turns black in the middle. A big, sudsy tan head leaves clumps of bubbles on the glass. Taste is this and sticky, with bits of licorice, weizen yeast, cherry, plum again, coffee candy and some pipe tobacco. Weizen spiciness conflicts with sugary sweetness, so no one dominates. Licorice is replaced in the middle by strong stout malt taste. Leaves a rime of malt sugar on the lips. Complex flavors just help disguise alcohol intoxication. If only those lights swirling outside my window would stop their incessant buzzing, I could enjoy this.

Pour of deep dark mahogany, rimmed with white. Aroma is a subdued almond fruits, with some sweet rustic edges. Flavor is a wash of warming dryed out malt character, with some hints of hazlenut, pecan and caramel. Toasty and full of date sweetness. Alcohol plays low. Lacks a run of balance in the back. I thought that a wheaty character should have been more pronounced, instead it seemed absent, especially in an sort of texture or tooth. Fruityness, downplayed in my mind as well.

22 oz. bomber, from Holiday Wine Cellar and shared by DarkElf - thanks! Pours dark brown with a moderate beige head and garnet highlights when held to light. Aroma of very ripe bananas, earthy and herbal notes, tempering to a light molasses. Herbal, sweet and toasty wheat flavors, banana, earth, bitter black tea infused with ripe banana. Medium to full body and gentle carbonation.

Pour is a cola brown with a small white head. Aroma is musty, citrus and bananas with a strong alcohol presence. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of dark fruits and molasses. Alcohol is there in a big way and I think im going to hit the sack after this one. Still very tasty but the alcohol is a kick in the groin.

Good sized dense head of fine off-white bubbles. Reduces slowly. Minimal carbonation. Roasty aroma with a bit of chocolate and dark fruit. Color is a very dark ruby brown. Fruity and malty. Some prunes and dates along with a big helping of roasted malts and a touch of coffee at the finish. Some spices present. Noticable alcohol warming. Pretty sweet and a little unsettling. A little bitterness at the finish and a lingering smoky aftertaste. Decent but is not sitting well in the stomach.

Hazy dark brown hue, with a frothy beige head, yesty, fruity nose of banana, raisin, date, and fig, with a toasted, wheaty malt note, with some nutmeg, cloves spiced accents, within some chocolatey aromas follow through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, fruity, wheaty, caramelized, toasted malt character, with a faint molasses accent, some dark dried dates, raisins and figs , with a clove, nutmeg spiciness, a nice chocolatey liqueurish warmth mouthfeel, leading towards a malty, fruity, acidic, dry finish.
