Poured into my glass with a dark, mostly opaque brown color with some purple highlights. Ample light brown head formed, but left behind no lace. The aroma was chocolate cover raisins, with some cherry, and smoke complexity. The flavor was mostly the same. There was also some tobaco character in the flavor. The palate was fluffy, and full. Rolled nicely from the front to back. Long alcohol finish. JCB (1777), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 21, 2007 Good gravy, this is one malt-tastic beer. Deep brown body with a modest, fairly frothy head. The wheats really come through in a powerful way, and the chocolate breadiness makes this one chewy beer. It’s almost too much for me, impressive though I find the craft. Nice dry finish. Slight imbalance to me, but still a fine effort. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 25, 2006 Bomber. Pours a very very dark clear crimson, not much head, just a little bit of small bubbles. Mild aroma of bananna esters, alcohol, just a hint of peat. Subtle. Taste is sweet, fruity with lots of cherry and bananna up front. Light spices, corriander, cinnamon? Some vinous hints in there as well. Finish is slightly dry, a little toffee sneaks in. Body is full and sticky. This beer isn’t exactly my bag, but it’s well made and I think stylistically correct. sneagrams3 (1757), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 5, 2006 22oz bottle. Dark black with brown hilights. Layered vanilla icing head. Vinuous with notes of raisins and cocoa. Plums and alcohol. Full with coffee and sweet caramel. Woody. It has that certain 7-Up-ness. Vanilla, honey and a grainy wheat. Tasty. tarjei (1753), Bryne, Norway

Sweet malt, hints of coffee, dark chocolate, liqorice and roasted malt. Sweet, with bitter finish. Vinous. Very good. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 7, 2006 Bottle. Dark brown body, tan foamy head. Brown sugar, fruity caramel, bubblegum sweetness and alcohol in the aroma. Very fruity flavor - apple/strawberry along with citric acid over sweet caramelly malt. Good mouthfeel. I like the combination of fruit and sweet malt on this guy. ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 23, 2006 Bananas, wheat and roasted malt in the nose. Considerable alcohol presence detected. Some molasses as well. Mostly clear very dark red; almost opaque. Quite sweet, with a high alcohol profile. This is a very good beer. Underrated if you ask me. Small, tan head. I was looking for my weissbier glass and couldn’t find it. I guess that means I need more than one. So, I am using a cross between a flute and a footed pilsner glass; Carlsberg logo. I could swear this beer has a hop profile. The alcohol is a little overbearing; that would be my one knock on this brew. If it were maybe 3/4% lower in ABV, it would be perfect. Another winner from Avery. Enjoyit (1722), Vadum, Denmark
