Commercial Description:
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

Pours dark brown with a medium beige head. Spicy aroma with notes of dark matured fruits. Flavour is prunes and raisins mixed with cocoa, spices and alcohol. Brilliant.

Pours out a dark brown almost black color with a nice tan head. Smells malty and fruity with some hints of coffee and chocolate. Taste is sweet, rich, filling, and it has a nice hoppy bitterness to it. At first I got a rather metallic taste from it that slowly faded away the warmer the beer got / the more I drank. It is very sweet, maybe too sweet, but it goes down in a hurry, and for 9.5% it certainly does not taste like it. This is not bad at all, certainly worth a shot, glad I have a few more bottles to drink over the coming summer months. Much better than Twelve was.

Lots of alcohol and dried fruit on the nose of this dark brown beer. Noticeable alcohol on top of the wheaty and rye like flavour. Bready with some nice spices and herbs to this chewy goat. Decent beer but just not my thing.

Pours with a two finger cream head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Deep mahogany color. Good carbonation and heavy bodied. Fruity, sour nose. Starts sweet, molasses, smooth, complex flavor, some sourness but finish is almost sweet and clean. High ABV is not noticeable. $7.99 for a 22oz bottle from Hi-Time Cellars Costa Mesa, Ca.

Bomber. Pour is garnet red and brown. Nice lacing and a great looking oatmeal brown head settles nicely. Aroma is a little bit sweet malt, and a real nuttiness to it. Initial taste is mostly the malt with some dark chocolate. As this warms, it really opens up, both aroma and taste wise. I didn’t get much breadiness in this one, as other raters had. Finish is a touch bitter and hot alcohol, but not in an overpowering way, Nice.
