Commercial Description:
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

Bomber thanks to dchmela. Pours a dark ruby hue with a medium brown head. The aroma is fruity, lots of fruity German malts. Reminds me a bit of Celebrator Dopple, and that’s a good thing. The flavor is fairly fry, dusty, lots of sweet fruits, prunes, berries, strawberry, a huge malty aspect washes over it all. Bready and yeasty. Very little alcohol warmth. A very nice powerful lager. Very enjoyable.

Dark brown coloured, small off white head. Sweet coffee-caramel fruity aroma with some yeasty alcoholic touches. Full body, strong caramel fruity and yeasty alcoholic finish. Good one, although rather sweet.

I think this one may be past its prime - Darker brown pour with a medium head (poured into an Aventinus glass). Aroma has some nice raisin, banana, wheat and strong spice. Flavor starts sweet and Weizenbocky (probably not a word), but gets flat and metallic very quickly. This one went from decent to boring to blah very quickly. Should have tried it earlier, but its not a top tier member of the style.

bottle. Pours a dark, rich red with a foamy tan head. Very sweet, creamy aroma rich of sweet fruit ala pears and grapes, breadiness. The flavor is rich of grapes, toffee, cherries, mild nutmeg, a bit of toast. Chocolate comes out in the finish. Great take on this style.

Clear dark brown with nice dark tan head, fades to film over time. Huge banana up front, tone of roasted grain, caramel, residuel sugar, very faint alcohol. As it warms banana esters subside, and aroma is huge sweet malt. Flavor, again dominated by sweet malts. Caramel, brown sugar/mollasses, chocolate, roasted grain, prune, raisins. Man there is alot going on for sure. Some faint fruity esters come through in the middle, but hard to pinpoint. Aftertaste is very bready/doughy. Flavor is eerily similiar to an east coast brewers’ eisbock/winter wheat. Great thick oily mouthfeel. IMO a tad hot right now. Might impove with some time. Well done regardless.

Dutch Ratebeer Meeting. Clear brown coloured, brown head. Lactic aroma, stout-like, some alcvohol, fruity notes. Sweet liquorice flavour. Lingering finish. Perhaps overly alcoholic in flavour.

Pours dark brown with ruby hues and fully receding tan head. Aroma of caramelized wort: plum, cloves, and spicy phenols. Taste is caramel, toffee, bubble gum, and clove. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy bodied with slightly sticky with soft carbonation. Not as pretty, a bit more syrupy, and less refreshing than the German examples, but still an enjoyable beer.
