Aroma of rasins, yeast, and spices.
Flavor is rasins, malt, yeast, fruit with a very watery mouthfeel. This is pretty good but not great. desurfer (1068), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 20, 2006 Pours a deep ruby with a medium tan head. Aroma has a faint yeasty and malty sweetness. Flavor is sweet and caramely like a doppelbock but with a twinge of sour wheat character reminiscent of a weizenbock. Like the name suggests, it’s sort of a hybrid of the two styles, and it works well. Unique and enjoyable. Cobra (1066), In a van, down by the river, Maryland, USA
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | May 25, 2006 22 oz. brown bomber bottle. I didn’t see a freshness date, but that doesn’t mean much. This beer is very, very fresh. Poured out a dark chocolate brown, with red highlights around the edges. It has a decent mocha colored sticky head on it. It leaves a decent lacing down the sides of the glass also. Aromas are of toffee, caramel wheat malt, slightly roasty also. Flavors are incredible. Caramels, toffees, malts, brown sugar, cookie dough, with a hint of raisins also. Thick, rich body, chewy texture & mouthfeel. Almost a meal in a glass. Alcohol is well hidden underneath all those malts. I think I detect a decoction mash here gang. Just enough hops to balance the sweetness of the malts. Hersbrucker or Hallertau hops in the mix. Damn good beer overall. Best effort from Avery in awhile. Make this a regular offering, guys. I’m impressed. jb (1059), Rochester, New York, USA

Sour taste in palate, cherries and a woody taste also in palate. later in the mouthfeel is a strong full bodied chocolatey taste. Aroma is of dark fruit. crizay (1050), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 3, 2007 Dark brown small beige head. Completely off the style of being a weizenbock main flavors are chocolate , caramel and crystal malts. Some banana faint in the background along with a nutty toasted malt flavor but this was pretty much a dopplebock with weizen yeast, not bad but not a weizen bock either. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 19, 2009 Flaske: Overraskende frisk. Flot dybrød/brun næsten uigennemsigtig øl med et lille skumhoved. God duft af bær og en smule hvede. Smagen er domineret af balanceret alkohol på den gode måde. Bitter finish. Oloroso karakter med en tør eftersmag. Virkelig godt lagret. Super øl. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
