Commercial Description:
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

this was a really cool beer. a very dark malty weiss beer. Had a solid rich flavor. A little too much alcohol in the taste.

Poured deep brown with ruby highlights and a large tan head. Aroma was lightly toasted malt, molasses, alcohol, and spices. Flavor of molasses, roasted malt, spice and alcohol. Finishes with a nice dry warmth. Well blended, thoguh not overly complex. A solid beer, but not amazing. Would drink again, though.

22 oz. Bottle: Sweet, roasted caramel aroma as well as picking up on the alceeehol. The color is dark brown with a small off-white head. The feeling that I get upon taking my first sip is exactly what is found in the commercial description: "marrying the complexities of two great German traditions." I taste a lot of sweet flavors like hazelnut, alcohol, and a little furniture polish. I also sense some dry weeds and mild anise in the aftertaste. These flavors linger for quite a while. Complex and compelling. Thanks Indiana_Red for hooking me up!

Almost black with minimal white head, this stuff has a malty bananna aroma. Taste is an odd bitter malt with a hint of raisin, and alcohol burn going down. Too thin and astringent. $7/22oz

22 oz. bottle. Dark translucent ruby with a small light brown head. Mild alefruit, caramel, and fruity esters in the aroma. Mild toastiness with and spicy and fruity ester component. Ruddy chocolate flavors emerge in the finish with a lasting sweet alefruit. Mouthfeel is heavy, somewhat chewy.

22 ounce bottle shared with a friend. Banana and smoked malty aroma. This one pours a dark brown with a tan head. Sugary flavor and sweet but not cloying. Different and interesting. Kind of like a banana split. I liked it.

I had this at the July Comet Cafe "beer school" in Milwaukee. It was a red-brown color with an inconsistent head. The beer had a grape-y aroma like a merlot (not like a cabernet). Flavor was more sour grapiness with some smokiness wihich surprised me a great deal. Mouthfeel was pretty ordinary.

22 oz bottle pours a deep brown with a thin off white head. Smells of sweet malt dominate the aroma. Taste is of ripe fruits, toasty malt, and sme spicy notes. The alcohol seems to be fairly well hidden.
