Commercial Description:
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

Dark pour that is not quite black, with a thick cream colored head. Berries and chocolate nose with a bit of dust. Tangy oatmeal, caramel, chocolate milk mix, nutmeg, a bit of banana flavor. Finish is dry with a noticeable alcohol bite., oh yeah, 9.5% that explains that I guess. Port like flavors. Not a bad beer. Ap-4 ar-7 tas-7 pal-3 ov-14

22 oz. bottle from Beverage House (Tucson) - Pours a brown color with a two finger thick light tan head. Light lacing. Aroma is full of esters. Flavor is lightly spiced and fruity. Also some dry caramel malt flavor comes through. Medium body and slightly bitter. A good beer.

Deep brown pour that turns crimson to light. Nose is muddled, sticky sweet then roast, I became confused. Heavy, full body has a nice touch to it. Flavor is much more than the aroma with a nice weizen quality (yeasty, dry, appetizing) up front, followed by a rich bock barrage of sweet chocolate and caramel. This has a nice depth and dimension to its flavors before it succumbs to its nemesis. Alcohol. A strong, astringent alcohol presence suffocates what this brew had acheived. Less than the sum of its parts, Avery took a shot and failed admirably.

22oz bottle. Pours a dark murky brown with a fizzy beige dome. Toasted malt, dark fruits and coffee dominate the nose while the finish is slightly bitter and tingles the palate.

Good gravy, this is one malt-tastic beer. Deep brown body with a modest, fairly frothy head. The wheats really come through in a powerful way, and the chocolate breadiness makes this one chewy beer. It’s almost too much for me, impressive though I find the craft. Nice dry finish. Slight imbalance to me, but still a fine effort.
