Commercial Description:
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

Burnet caramel, alcohol, marzipan, some floral notes and vinous fruits in the salty aroma. Clear, dark, mahogany brown body is topped by a low tan head that recedes to cover. Sweet flavour has plenty of nutty marzipan, dark pit fruits, molasses, caramel and alcohol. Some dark malt bitterness in the finish. Medium body with low carbonation and strong alcohol warming. Bottle sampled with BeerPrince, CapFlu, frink and Oakes.

The beer departs the 22 ounce brown bottle a deep brown with nice ruby highlight, the head is tan in color, the texture creamy and the size about two fingers, as it decomposes, the lace forms a tight skirt upon the glass. Nose has a nice fruity aroma, cotton candy like, hints of malt also present. Start is nicely malted, sweet with a moderate to full feel to the palate. Finish has a determined acidity, the hops pleasant, somewhat sweet and dry the aftertaste lingers long on the palate, quite good in my book.

Deep dark black in color with a little tan head. Fruity malty aroma. Caramel fruity raisiny notes. Malty caralmel and fruity flavor. Thin bodied. It would be better without the alcohol aftertaste. Thanks for the trade JB.

Dark brown color; thin head, not persistent. The aroma is light, with caramel and very light roasted malt. The body strength is ok, with dominant caramel flavor, also malt, roasted malt, liquorice and a light sourish note, probably the wheat. Closer to a Barley Wine than anything else, but not impressive.

Deep ruby. Spicy wheat-prune-banana nose, a little hint of fresh cowshit, which is actually better than it sounds. Spicy clove and cinnamon flavor, thick and chewy. Some considerable alcohol, thick and malty, sweet alcoholic finish, warming. Solid, if unspectacular big beer from Avery.

Pours very dark brown with an attractive tan head. Aroma has heavy bananas, rich malt, bits of roastedness and decent bit of alcohol. Full bodied beer with soft carbonation. Thick malt taste that is quite roasty with dark banana flavor and no hiding of the alcohol here. The finish has some spice to it and some vinious qualities. The alcohol is just too prevalent throughout the whole experience to be very enjoyable to me. It seems like far too often raising the ABV takes higher priority than taste with Avery.

Clear brown with reddish hues, low head production. Caramel, toast, and chocolate aromas; tingling carbonation but a sense of being a little thin (though there is some sweet stickiness that makes this effect moderate if anything); decent flavors up front, including a strong banana streak, with notes of alcohol, leather, and burnt sugar (as when cooking) in the end. Not bad. I’m glad I shared the bomber with my mother-in-law; I wouldn’t have wanted the whole thing.

Cloudy auburn with a red tint, this brew has a small but retentive tan head with decent lacing. Tiny bubbles. Malty aroma with a slap of quick alchohol at the end of a whiff. Flavor is sweet and malty throughout with a potent alchoholic kick at the end of the swallow. An unusual flavor akin to soy sauce plays a interesting, but not overwhelming role.
