Dec 23, 2007 22 oz bomber purchased at Oak Tree. Pours a deep dark brown with ruby highlights and a small bubbly medium beige head. Fantastic sweet aroma of raisins, dark fruit, cane sugar, slight wheat, molases and dark rum. Full bodied that is slightly creamy but really fills your entire mouth and is very chewy with strong carbonation. Flavor of sugar, raisin, slight coccoa, grains and a touch of alcohol. The only thing better then drinking this beer is knowing that the Vikings are about to win the 2007 NFC wildcard spot by beating the Redskins, hopefully.

Aug 21, 2007 Updated: Feb 9, 2008bottle. I’m glad I found this beer the other day at my local beer store... definitely wanted to try this before it’s gone for good. Aromas of sweet malts and licorice. Notes of coffee and caramel. Very sweet and tasty. A bit of alcohol at the back of the mouth. Good indeed.

Sep 8, 2007 Wow a big weizen doppelbock, dark mahogany color, lace. Aroma of coffe, pepper, and bitter choc. med to full body with flavors of dark fruits, banana with chocolate, licorice, and stong alcohol. Avery always suprises me.

May 25, 2008 Bottle. Very dark brown pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of dark fruit and spice. Both also in flavor along with roasted malt, chocolate and biscuit. Incredible mouthfeel; creamy and smooth with a wonderfully soft finish. Great, great beer. I only wish I had more. Much more.

Oct 15, 2009 @Freaktoberfest 2006 bottle, pours deep stunning ruby with a cream color medium head, aroma of cereals, grain, honey, butter and some apple notes, flavor of wood, honey, grain with loads of scotch like alcohol and bitter finish.Full bodied. Wow

Jun 4, 2009 On tap @ Avery - three year old keg. Really great nose of damp earth, rasins. Upfront flavor is really weizen-esque, and really complex - sweet, rich with various fruits (strawberry, some plum), and some spicy toffee. Our whole table (most new to craft beer) wanted full pints, but they’re only offering tasters, so stuck with multiples of those. never had it fresh, but with 3 years on it, it’s superb.

Jul 17, 2006 This is a very attractive appearing beer pouring dark mahogeny with some really nice ruby ride colors apparant when held to the light. The head is nice and thick and flufy, totally retained and dark beige in color. The aroma picks up where the appearance leaves off with a really nice opening roasted malt note, some nuttiness, wheat aroma, as well as some dark fruit notes and just a dash of spice. The flavor is nice as well, but I am going to take one point off for alcoholic heat. The flavor compliment the aromas, with some dark fruit flavors, a bit of wheatiness, some candy sugar like sweetness as well. This beer had some great potential buy needed just a bit more subtlety to be great.

Jun 11, 2008 Bright burgundy. Deep fruitiness with whole grain breadcrust. Very alcoholic, with a rich soy sauce character and again a deep fruitiness. Woody, dense black forest cake. Almost Samiclausy with a fat, warming finish.
