Commercial Description:
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

Thanks Dr. Bill. The dark reddish-brown body of this brew is topped by a medium thick head with some lacing left on the glass. It’s slighttly sweet and malty with a nice banana note, an underlying roastiness and notes of dark fruit. Full bodied, smooth and a touch warming.

Dark wheat appearance and thin head. Some banana on the nose. The distinguising characteristic of this weizen bock is the deep, dark rich caramel that lingers. It is very much like a Barton’s almond kiss- dark, almost chocolate caramel. At over 9% and like drinking candy- this stuff is dangerous. We are simply blessed to have Avery in Minnesota.

Poured a reddish brown color with a small, diminishing, off white head, that left faint lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweet caramel malts, citrus fruits, banana, nuts, and clove. Taste of sweet caramel, tart citrus fruits, with more banana, light roast, and vanilla as well. Alcohol is well hidden.

Dark ruby with a firm off-white head. Complex aroma featuring figs and dates, licorice and molasses, and some bready munich maltiness. Sweet and fruity flavour, vineous and thick. Licorice and malt in a dry finish. The alcohol feeling falls somewhere between warming and burning. I suppose this is my first wheat wine

22 oz. Bottle. Pours dark brown with red highlights and a slowly dissipating light tan head and creamy lacing. Nose of dark fruits, banana, and roast. The flavor is smooth and creamy with some banana and roast up front and a slight bitter bite for balance. You can also taste the alcohol. Very well made beer that will age gracefully

Bottle: Dark brown, hues of burnt caramel, moderate to large frothy beige head, fairly nice lacing.   Rich bready nose, some biscuit and nuts, semi-sweet malts, grainy caramel, soft soy... there is a lot to this one!   Big bready start, heavy dark pitted fruit, a bit sweeter than the nose and the fruit is a bit more unripened.   Some nuts, dates, caramel is in there too.   I am quite impressed with this one.   Big in body, full to moderate mouthfeel.   Light alcohol on the finish, remains very bready, somewhat heavy even.   Lingering dark pitted fruit, although a bit muted.   Warming to say the least.   Clean, no funk at the finish.   A little biting, could be it being green or the alcohol, but totally within its boundaries.   I really enjoyed this one!   Thanks Bill for the bottle!

Pours with a two finger cream head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Deep mahogany color. Good carbonation and heavy bodied. Fruity, sour nose. Starts sweet, molasses, smooth, complex flavor, some sourness but finish is almost sweet and clean. High ABV is not noticeable. $7.99 for a 22oz bottle from Hi-Time Cellars Costa Mesa, Ca.
