BMan1113VR (710), Los Angeles (and Dallas, TX), California, USA May 12, 2008 Pours with an ultra dark brown body accompanied by a largish, creamy, light brown head. Good lacing from the head. Aroma is metallicy, with vanilla, plum, rotten banana, and some brown sugar. Taste is burnt malts, some fruityness, spicines, and then a nutty after taste with some yeasty saltiness. Smooth mouthfeel.
Angeloregon (1694), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 6, 2008 Cellared bottle from By The Bottle in Vancouver, WA--Poured a murky brown-black body. Small almost non-existent beige head. Chocolate, nutty, gnarley, malty, spry nose. Big wheat flavor. Bright full mouthfeel. Thanks, Dave. ’Twas yummy. oberabcbbsok (650), Hoboken, Belgium Aug 4, 2008 A nice and good tasting beer. Had it on draft at the 15th aniversary. A very smooth and good tasting beer Juancho (183), New York, New York, USA Jul 21, 2008 22 Oz. Bomber from Wine Seller in Alpharetta.
Good stuff as usual from Avery. It has a year or more of bottle age in my refrigerator. It’s become nice and murky, brownish with as strong aroma of wheat and bread, dominated by malt but nicely balanced by careful use of hops. Love it.... too bad it’s gone.... one to fourteen and fifteen Snojerk321 (929), San Diego, California, USA Jul 4, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours a dark murky brown with a fizzy beige dome. Toasted malt, dark fruits and coffee dominate the nose while the finish is slightly bitter and tingles the palate. jcurtis55 (14), Plainfield, Indiana, USA Jul 1, 2008 Picked up a bomber at Kahn’s Liquors in an Avery sale in May 2008. Got almost no head on the pour. Plenty of aroma still there, with fruit and bread both coming through. Fairly creamy mouth feel. The alcohol comes through in the aftertaste and that becomes more pronounced as the beer warms. It seemed to hit peak flavor around 45-50 degrees F, not a suprise given the ABV. I could only drink half the bomber.
