Commercial Description:
A truly authentic Belgian style wheat or "white" ale, this Rascal is unfiltered (yup, that's yeast on the bottom) and cleverly spiced with coriander and Curacao orange peel producing a refreshingly fruity thirst quencher.

This blonde ale poured with a foamy white head, eliciting a spicy aroma. The flavor is typical of a Belgian-style witbier, with coriander and orange peel over a wheat base. Very refreshing and drinkable.

had a 12 0z. bottle at the Flying Saucer and must have gotten a bad one. very funky aroma and taste not up to what the other Averys I have had. I will have to try this one again and see if it is different the next time.

I bought this $1.50 beer at HiTime Wine Cellar about 3months ago for a Belgian trade, because the guy wanted it, but then we agreed to swap it out for something more valuable with limited bottle space. I usually avoid buying beers below 3.8, so I’ve been reluctant to try it and it was sitting in my fridge all this time. Well I think I should clean some of these 3.2 beers out of my fridge and here I am tasting this one. Pours light cloudy yellow. A small amount of yeast sediment in the bottle. Fluffy huge bubble head fades quickly to no head and a few medium bubbles. Nice carbonation in the liquid though. Lots of banana and corriander in the aroma characteristic of a traditional Hefe yeast. I guess it is not a true Hefeweizen with the corriander addition, but maybe it’s standard in Belgian wits. Lots of bandaid aroma reminiscent of Bells 8000. Maybe the bandaid aroma is a combination of banana and corriander. Hmm. High drinkability. Mild.

Had on draft at the Brew Kettle. Poured a hazy golden color. Sweet and strong smell of citrus, grass, and corriander. The taste was WAY hoppy for me. Hops and orange peel. I did not really care for this one.

Ultra-cloudy, bright yellow pour with a thin, whispy white head. The nose is spicier than other witbiers I’ve had, but still totally standard. The flavour is sugary and fruity, with orange peel, banana (mostly in the finish) and corriander. There is a mid palate lactic tang and sourness, but it doesn’t offend. The carbonation is abbrassive, but the presence of wheat allows for a slightly creamy texture. Definitely refreshing and well done for the style.

Bottled, consumed on 01/16/08. Poured into a weizen glass, the beer is a very pale, cloudy yellow. A two-fingered head formed upon pouring, but subsided within a minute to a thin skin of white foam. Banana and clove greet the nose with a sugary aroma. Mouthfeel is smoother than expected, almost creamy. Controlled pepperiness comes out initially. Malty, wheaty flavor spiked with a faint metallic tang (yeast?) in the mid-mouth. Did not note the citrus or sourness that some others report. Very slight note of astringency and a subtle bitterness finish off the palate. Not the best I have had, but very, very good.

Pours a light yellow with little white head. Aroma is fruity and flavor is mostly fruity (orange). Not on the top of my list for wheat ales. Too much fruit, to the point where it was a bit sour and bitter.
