yemntftb (106), USA Feb 1, 2007 Draft. Belgian Style Wheat/white ale. Unfiltered and spcided nicely with coriander and Curacao orange peel. Pretty tastey, not the best Belgian, but definitly a good brew. swoopjones (1862), Buffalo, New York, USA Feb 1, 2007 Pint @ Allen Street Hardware. Very similar to Hoegaarden but not as good. Pale unfiltered yellow. Slight citrus presence. I’m usually a fan of Belgian whites but this really doesn’t do much for me. DrHomolka (725), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jan 26, 2007 Draft. Very pale straw color with a small white head. Sweet, citrusy aroma with a weak, dry taste. Lacks flavor. Not bad but there are a handful of other wheat beers I’d rather have instead. Jukkabro (2981), Tampere, Finland Jan 15, 2007 Light yellow colored, cloudy appearance. Little white head. Orange, spices, yeast and some lemony sourness in aroma. Medium bodied. Flavor is richer with orange, spices and yeast, crispy carbonation. Aftertaste is good with lemony yeast. One dimensional, basic witbier. oh6gdx (8795), Vasa, Finland Jan 14, 2007 Bottled. Hazy yellow colour, small white head. Aroma is wheat and spices. Flavour is smooth wheat and some slight spicyness. Clean but quite boring. Lacks something from what the Belgians have. detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA Jan 13, 2007 Pours a lightly hazed straw color - that shows bright gold where it catches the light. The glass I used was too small to pour the whole bottle in. After a bit, I was able to stir up the yeast and dump the remaining beer - producing a much hazier straw color that refuses to catch the light. A quarter inch of white suds sticks around for quite a while. Decent lacing. Tangy wheat and a hint of lemon in the aroma.
Tasty with both sweet and dry tangy wheat malt, prominent coriander, and an orange zestiness. Initial sips (pre-swirl and dump) provided no yeast flavors, but afterwards they sure did. Light to medium body, light but lively carbonation. True to style, refreshing and drinkable. Tranquillity (1165), Espoo, Finland Jan 12, 2007 Bottle @ American Week, Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Not very strong aroma, smells like witbier and soap. Foam looks like dishwashing liquid. Pale like a lager. Taste a bit soap, very thin overall. No finish. A pure copy of Hoegaarden and a poor one at that. sayravai (3720), Helsinki, Finland Jan 11, 2007 (Bottled, @room temp!) Very hazy yellow color with a small head and lots of floating yeast. Coriander-spicy, lemony, quite fresh aroma. Flavor of sweetish-fruity-lemony malt, coriander, orange-peel, some hops, and a tiny hint of pepper. Room temp is way too warm for this, but I got the idea... Should be a very ok summer drink.
