GarrettB (494), Seattle, Washington, USA Jan 6, 2007 Updated: Oct 14, 2007Once you get past the categorically perverse and anorexic albino on the label, which took me a lot of time and anguish to do, you get a Witbier that outshines most others in gaseous content. Boyle himself would have popped a vessel just to get an eyeful of this thing, brimming with carbonation. It humbles most geysers, and the amount of vacuous air it puts out would compete with most Congressmen. But besides that and a little spice this doesn’t have much to its very distinctive name. The head is a pale white that reminds me of white wall, though it fizzles away fairly rapidly. The rays of vibrant light that shoot from the glass are a bedazzling neon yellow broken by a few streams of bubbles that make this glass full of beer a potentially interesting decorative piece alongside a lava lamp and a electricity ball (so fashionable). The smell is heavy with humidity and mist, only with the expected wheatiness encapsulated. A more noticeable tangent of alcohol suppresses the wheat, which seems like a cardinal sin in witbiers, while a desperate clove flavor pounces on the nose in a desperate bid to reclaim my attention. The mouth is where the voluminous and vorpal vapor comes in, leaving all other flavor scattered and stranded until a few seconds in, when the usual Wit-team of wheat, lemon and yeast come in and claw their way to prominence. Then I suddenly realize that it’s a Witbier, and attempt to enjoy it as such. Then the flavors, which worked so hard to find a place where they could express themselves, abandon all hope and simply lift away in the torrent of carbonation. That makes this an unexciting and short lived beer. Even though it’s the most destructive element in this brew, I have to give major props to the carbonated texture for being so darn fun on the tongue. That’s what I call a phrryic boon, for sure KDorgan12 (163), Memphis, Tennessee, USA Jan 3, 2007 Draft - Memphis. Cloudy Pale Yellow body with White head served with an orange. Lots of banana and lemon in the flavor and aroma. Lighter finish for a witbier - Great for a night out. burpfrank (292), carpinteria, California, USA Jan 1, 2007 this had a good head.Nice, aroma of wheat .color was a very light straw ,hence the white in the name.It had a good balanced wheat and correander flavor.I think I taste the orange, but only after reading the description. This is a good ,biting, wheat ale.Can I have another?? beaconstreet (811), Washington DC, USA Dec 31, 2006 Sweet! Round tasting, good stuff. I’m a fan. Not as peachy as the label would suggest. RedEft (131), Wichita, Kansas, USA Dec 30, 2006 In a chilled mug: Poured a very murky, opaque gold...looks just like pinapple juice with the pulp. Well it would look just like pinapple juice if it wasn’t for the foamy white head. Anyway, pleasant aroma of wheat, coriander, spicy citrus. Taste of spiced wheat with slightly sour hints. Surprisingly bland, actually, given the aroma. But a good witbier nonetheless. jeffdog22 (23), lakeland, Florida, USA Dec 27, 2006 very nice wit beer...citrusy finish...decent carbonation...definite taste of orange...refreshing ford9719 (369), Vilseck, Germany Dec 24, 2006 Bottle. Poured a hazy golden color with a white head. Had the aroma of bananas and citrus. The tatse is awsome of bananas and oranges, and apples. Good wheat. drewbeerme (2223), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 21, 2006 12 bottle. pours an extremely pale and somewhat hazy. the appearance isn’t good at all. has absolutely not amber hue. dont like it. aroma is loaded with coriander and sweet orange peel. aroma is overpowering and unpleasent. oh man flavor is off. a weak coriander and orange peel mesh, not crisp, not refreshing, unbalanced, and not subtle. a drain pour.
