Commercial Description:
A truly authentic Belgian style wheat or "white" ale, this Rascal is unfiltered (yup, that's yeast on the bottom) and cleverly spiced with coriander and Curacao orange peel producing a refreshingly fruity thirst quencher.

Cloudy yellow looks almost juice like. The head is dense, and meringue like with good retention. The aroma is very wheaty, but seems low on the spicing. A good bit of phenol. The flavor seems more hefeweizen than witbier, although wheat in the banana esters. Soft, full mouthfeel. Good wheat beer, weak witbier.

Bottle: Poured a light hazy white/yellow color ale with a big foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of coriander and orange peel is dominating with light wheat notes. Taste is a mix between some orange peel, coriander and some wheat malt with some notes of fruity ester. Light body with OK carbonation. Not bad but not there with the best from the style.

Hazy bright yellow with fuffy white head. Very faint spice and orange aroma. Bright palate and tastes of bread, cloves, and banana.

[Bottle - Johns Market] A nice golden colored beer wih a thick foam head. A great wheaty flavor. Liked the lightness and the easy drinking of this beer. An awesome brew for the hot days of summer.

Enjoyed this several times with dinner on the patio at Midnight Blue in Orlando, FL. Just like a lighter, crisper version of Hoegaarden....which are welcome improvements in my opinion. Plenty of coriander and orange peel, but the coriander does not overpower like it does in Hoegaarden. Excellent on a hot summer day. Just think Hoegaarden Light.

12 bottle. pours an extremely pale and somewhat hazy. the appearance isn’t good at all. has absolutely not amber hue. dont like it. aroma is loaded with coriander and sweet orange peel. aroma is overpowering and unpleasent. oh man flavor is off. a weak coriander and orange peel mesh, not crisp, not refreshing, unbalanced, and not subtle. a drain pour.

Poured yellowish cloudy with solid chunks and a white head...smell was cloves and coriander...maybe a hint of banana...taste was like a watered down White...spices were there, just a little thin...I don’t think this is a good example of a white...a good training beer maybe...

I'm in the minority here. I liked this beer. I picked this baby up while on a business trip in Colorado. In my humble opinion, this is an Excellent example of a Belgian Wit. I really enjoyed it. If you like this style, seek out this beer. It was originally introduced as a summer seasonal, but when I visited Avery's brewery, they told me that it would be year round. It's a hazy yellow color with a small white head. It has the crispness that you expect from a white. Great job.
