tedovertu (98), Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA Aug 3, 2008 I must be a fan of the Brauerei Aying brewery. Every one of their beers have not disappointed. This one is no exception. The aroma of Molasses/honey mixed with horse blanket. Large Rocky light brown head with good lacing (fully lasting). Dark amber/brown body with excellent mouth feel. Medium bodied with a lively carbonation. The only draw back on the first few sips is a mild metallic finish. wcampbell (398), Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 27, 2008 Very good for a dunkel. Nicely full bodied, but not overwhelming at all. Dark fruit and malt flavor dominates the taste. Not much else going on. Well balanced and very drinkable. Lightly sweet with a lightly dry finish. I am not a huge fan of the style though. Jblauvs (131), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Jul 26, 2008 dark ruby pour, light head that dissipates. aromas of cherry, fig, dates, and sweet malt. Mouthfeel very smooth, roast malt flavor, but flavor is not as full as suggested by the aroma.wonderfully balanced. smooth and drinkable, a good dunkel craftycarl21 (156), South Hero, Vermont, USA Jul 26, 2008 plum colored pour with minimal head. aroma of figs, cherry, licorice, raisins, and malt- very nice, one of my first forays into the dunkel category. tastes sort of like a belgian ale but with a very dry finish- maintains the sweet fruit at the start and through the middle. palate is nice, the dry finish is a very nice twist. very tasty. acrdz (4228), Pennsylvania, USA Jul 23, 2008 500ml bottle pours medium dark brown with a tan head. Dusty, old, dry nose of stale bread crust and dried Munich malt. Flavor is just as stale, dusty, dry, and old as the aroma, some toffee and light toasted malts tasted as well, but overall not really winning points, but I fear that this may be too old of a bottle.
