bp (451), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 23, 2008 Bottle: pours a dark reddish brown with a thin white head, aroma of malt and roasted barley, taste is toasted malts, just a little sweet, with a smooth finish. Not bad. AgentSteve (1334), SF Bay Area, California, USA Jun 19, 2008 Pours an attractive deep ruddy brown with a decent cream colored head. The nose is roasted malt and caramel. The flavor is more of that, with the toasted malt standing out in a smokey, smooth way. Quite smooth on the palate as well. mgermani (862), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jun 14, 2008 Pours a medium brown with a nice off-white head which dissolves quickly into a small but lasting layer of foam with some lacing. Aroma is very bready, reminds me of a good Maibock. Tastes lightly smoky, very bready, lightly toasted with some diacetyl, light nuttiness. Body is creamy but thin, carbonation average. Can’t say I really care for this one, but then I’ve always had issues with Dunkels. Willing to give anything a try, especially given that I’ve enjoyed Ayinger so far, but this one falls flat for me. boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Jun 13, 2008 Bottle... Poured deep burgandy with a huge frothy head. Aroma is great, roasted nuts, tea and plums. Palate is smooth, with flavors of roasted malt, caramel and a touch of hops for a mild, refreshing bitterness. Some other chocolate, mild coffee flavors too. Very hearty. DruncanVeasey (2690), The Penguin’s Arms, Europe, Warwickshire, England Jun 10, 2008 Updated: Jun 12, 2008Speis Und Trank, Munich. Clear ruby with a beige collar. Woody, almondy nut aroma with a hint of beefiness. A faint dusting of coffee and chocolate. Woodsy and thinnish with a very milky, mild-like coffeeish note, and some watery hazelnut/almond in the background. If this was a mild I’d mark it down for being too bland. Tasty, but vague. brewblackhole (1367), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Jun 9, 2008 Roasty, slight chocolate aroma, a gorgeous dark hue, taste was a smooth almost foanmy, dark roast flavor, edged toward sweetness then dried out, flavors were inticingly subdued, which I suppose this style should be. A great session brew ironchefscott (341), portland, Oregon, USA Jun 6, 2008 nice bready malt flavor.....very clean finish....pretty sessionable....creamy mouth feel...... BeerGestapo (725), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA May 22, 2008 (GREMANY) Courtesy of AFI96, thanks Waylo !!! Dark auburn color with a thin tan head. This dunkel has a roasted malt / oatmeal aroma and a slight rum / caramel taste. The finish is sweet but kinda dry. So if you see this one give it a try !!!!
