jfenglish (198), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 4, 2008 500 ml bottle. Pretty color- dark orange / amber with tiny bubbles slowly making their way to the surface. Beer is clear, with a fluffy off-white head of foam. Aroma of raisins and malts- overall light aroma. Rich mouthfeel, smooth and creamy. Taste is of heavily roasted malt, with licorice and a definite roasted nuttiness. Maybe some smoke on the edges? Finish is light, due to the minimal hop presence. Flavors are nice, work together. Surprisingly crisp finish. Solid overall, I enjoyed. drewbeerme (2224), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 2, 2008 500ml bottle. pours clear chestnut with off white head. a nice nutty and toasted malt aroma. flavor is the same, very clean malt profile, some floral hop in the finish. flavor falls off pretty short. a well executed dunkel that you could drink a lot of. perhaps the fall would be a good session time for this. ogivlado (3036), Zagreb, Croatia Mar 27, 2008 On tap at Ayingers Speis und Trank in Munich.
Dark reddish/brown coloured, medium sized pale beige head. Malty, chocolate and mild spicy aroma with notes of toffee and smoke. Pleasant sweet dryish finis. Another very tasty beer from Ayinger. Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark Mar 19, 2008 Nice, bright red mahogany with a moderate, but lasting head. The aroma has sweetness and notes of roasted malt. The flavour has a light sweetness, notes of roasted malt, caramel and a light hint of nuts. The finish has a slightly dry citrus note. A nice one! biznizness (930), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA Mar 18, 2008 Toasty and malty and delicious. Really has a hardy, manly flavor to it. It doesn’t just look dark, it tastes dark. thewolf (5623), Kolding, Denmark Mar 8, 2008 Bottle, bought @ Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg.
Pours a great dark brown with a big, creamy off white head on top. Aroma is sweet, lots of dough and light caramel. Some rye bread as well. Great mouthfeel, rather creamy. Flavour is mild, malty sweet. Rye, dough, lightly roasted and some slight caramel. A smoky and hoppy bitter finish. A very good dunkel. tnkw01 (124), USA Mar 4, 2008 Bottle. The best way I can describe this beer is celebrator light. Pours a dark brown color. Smells, like whole wheat dough. Taste, coffee, fruity, pleasant. Really good!! illidurit (851), Santa Cruz, California, USA Feb 29, 2008 Poured into an Eichhof bier mug. Clear maroon color, with an off-white head that breaches the rim of the glass. No lacing, decent retention.
Spicy and doughy notes on the nose. Sweet caky malt, with an earthy quality as well.
Flavor is toasty and sweet, with a little fruitiness. Grain, toffee, and a touch of coffee.
Smooth on the palate with good carbonation. You could drink this stuff all day.
