Apr 26, 2008 Molasses and heavily roasted malt aroma, which approaches that of dog food. Very clear brown, with a thick light tan head. Very malty and kibbly flavor. Probably good with stew, but just a bit too similar to Alpo.

Apr 19, 2008 Pretty decent overall, standard fare as far as Dunkels go. Smells and tastes really fresh, some dark fruits and spice follow through with a slight bit of banana, and some creamy nutty flavors. Not bad.

Apr 4, 2008 500 ml bottle. Pretty color- dark orange / amber with tiny bubbles slowly making their way to the surface. Beer is clear, with a fluffy off-white head of foam. Aroma of raisins and malts- overall light aroma. Rich mouthfeel, smooth and creamy. Taste is of heavily roasted malt, with licorice and a definite roasted nuttiness. Maybe some smoke on the edges? Finish is light, due to the minimal hop presence. Flavors are nice, work together. Surprisingly crisp finish. Solid overall, I enjoyed.

Apr 2, 2008 500ml bottle. pours clear chestnut with off white head. a nice nutty and toasted malt aroma. flavor is the same, very clean malt profile, some floral hop in the finish. flavor falls off pretty short. a well executed dunkel that you could drink a lot of. perhaps the fall would be a good session time for this.

Dark reddish/brown coloured, medium sized pale beige head. Malty, chocolate and mild spicy aroma with notes of toffee and smoke. Pleasant sweet dryish finis. Another very tasty beer from Ayinger.

Mar 19, 2008 Nice, bright red mahogany with a moderate, but lasting head. The aroma has sweetness and notes of roasted malt. The flavour has a light sweetness, notes of roasted malt, caramel and a light hint of nuts. The finish has a slightly dry citrus note. A nice one!

Mar 18, 2008 Toasty and malty and delicious. Really has a hardy, manly flavor to it. It doesn’t just look dark, it tastes dark.
