Robust, sweet, malty nose reminiscent of candy sugar and brown sugar. Roasted and toasty flavors almost smoky but more like dark chocolate. Very complex with different flavors coming to light with each taste. Nice brew! Headbanger (1582), Aurora, Illinois, USA

Aroma of malt, caramel, and slight coffee. Taste of this medium bodied brew is of malt, chocolate, caramel, coffee, and finishes with more caramel and a mix of sweetness and dryness. An enjoyable dunkel. DrZao (97), Houston, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 4, 2008 Dark brown. Malty aroma with noticeable molasses. Flavor is quite malty...a bit too much for me, with the molasses still pretty strong. By the end, it was too sweet and syrupy. But I’ve been a little burnt out on malty dark beers lately, so I’m biased. BrianHagmeier (257), Coralville, Iowa, USA

Chuckle chuckle Any way, huge head, nice red beer with a sweet bread and malt aroma that blends into the exact flavor you would expect from the nose. Very gulp-able. robforbes (1085), Bremerton, Washington, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 14, 2007 Sweet malty aroma. Flavor was malty and slightly bitter (in a good way). Sort of light on the palate.. not as heavy a beer as some of these dark beers are. Refreshing. ketchepillar (478), Vińa del Mar, Chile
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 12, 2007 Pours 2.5 finger smooth head. Not a big fan of dunkels, bit I must admit this is a very well made beer. Smells like a dunkel (play-doh, dust, and enchilada sauce). Taste is uniform and well-rounded. Clean finish. Silky mouthfeel. It’s a very good beer, despite the oddness of dunkels.
