BrianHagmeier (257), Coralville, Iowa, USA Dec 26, 2007 Pours a 2.41085285491250 finger head. Chuckle chuckle Any way, huge head, nice red beer with a sweet bread and malt aroma that blends into the exact flavor you would expect from the nose. Very gulp-able. robforbes (1083), Bremerton, Washington, USA Dec 22, 2007 Updated: May 22, 2009old ratings:

pour is a clear dark copper with a reddish tint, large foamy beige head, above average carbonation, and good lacing.
smell is of malt, grain, some cocoa, some caramel, some fruit, spice, roasted nuts, and bread dough.
taste is somewhat watery, malt, slightly bitter, some cocoa, roasted nuts, touch of prunes, ends a little dry and a little sour. AR (417), Georgia, USA Dec 19, 2007 A very good malty aroma. Flavor is also that of a wooded malt. Very drinkable with a presence of alcohol. Medium mouthfeel. A nice drink.
HarmonKill-a-Brew (316), Wilmar, Arkansas, USA Dec 14, 2007 Sweet malty aroma. Flavor was malty and slightly bitter (in a good way). Sort of light on the palate.. not as heavy a beer as some of these dark beers are. Refreshing. ketchepillar (475), Viña del Mar, Chile Dec 12, 2007 Pours 2.5 finger smooth head. Not a big fan of dunkels, bit I must admit this is a very well made beer. Smells like a dunkel (play-doh, dust, and enchilada sauce). Taste is uniform and well-rounded. Clean finish. Silky mouthfeel. It’s a very good beer, despite the oddness of dunkels. Pwn3d (1036), Manhattan, New York, USA Dec 3, 2007 500ml bottle. This maybe a biased rating - Not a fan of dunkels, mistook this for a Schwarz upon purchase. This did have an exceptional pour to it. Somewhat overwhelming malt that is kind of a turn off... surprised this is only 5%. It went pretty bad with my food. Overall, It was okay for a Dunk, but nothing i would come back to. sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA Nov 28, 2007 On tap at Winking Lizard: Pours a deep brown with a light tan head. Aroma, raosted notes, caramel, some fruits. Flavor, caramel, and herbal and floral hop flavor, chocolate, some sweet malts, very smooth and quite delicious. USCMustangman (41), Alabama, USA Nov 16, 2007 Bottle. Pours a deep brown with a nice off-white, frothy head. Very mild aroma. Flavor is malty with hints of caramel and a little chocolate. Palate is on the light side. Very good overall. Plenty of flavor but very drinkable.
