Jun 23, 2007 Well, the last three dunkels I’ve had are all good stuff, this at the top, probably THE top of all dunkels tasted by me. Appearance was clear coppery brown, nice two finger head, great retention, solid lacing. The aroma was bread, light earthiness, nuts, some roast. The flavor was firm and pleasing nuts, roasted malts, coffee, finishing with a touch of bready/earthy/slightly grassy dryness. Some fruity tones appear on the tongue after the dry roasted nuts and coffee leave, but not firmly so. The mouthfeel was moderate for the style. A dunkel rich in flavor, depth like a schwarz, but lighter and more drinkable as a dunkel. Nice stuff, Aying.

Jun 21, 2007 Beer 69 Summer 2006 trip in Europe. Drank on 711/06 on tap @ Ayinger in the Brew pub room. Very nice smooth finishing dunkel probably one of the best Dunkels I had on the trip.

Jun 18, 2007 Dark brown with a nice 2 finger white head. Nice carbonation. Has a lot of dark fruit and malt but the sweetness is kept in line by the bubbles. Some Sugar Daddy in the background and a little bitterness in the aftertaste. I love Ayinger beers even though I can’t pronounce most of them.

Jun 8, 2007 Clear ruby body with a medium creamy light brown head. Sweet light molassas aroma. Sweet molassas flavor with a nutty background.

Jun 5, 2007 Pour is a dark brown with a white head. Aroma is very nice with hints of nuts and roasted malts. Flavor is excellent. Lots of dark fruits(plum and dates) with some toffee and sweet caramel. Wow a good example of this style and one that is quite affordable.

Jun 3, 2007 500mL as pictured. Amber pour with some red colors as the light hit it. One-finger white head that bubbled actively and diminished fairly quickly. Scent of sweet malt, raisin, caramel, toffee, banana and other fruits. Roastier on the taste, with very little bitterness and a sweet cream finish. Crisp clean aftertaste. Enjoyable indeed.

May 27, 2007 Bronze with no carbonation. Bronze appearance and pleasant enough to drink. No better than slightly above average but still one I would try again.

May 25, 2007 Wonderful dark color, sweetish malty aroma backed with some hops. Flavor is as good as I’ve ever had in a dark lager of its strength. Caramelly, roatsty, and slightly sweet, but never cloying. A winner.
