Tastewise, this is a lovely dunkel, with just the right taste for the style for me! drpimento (809), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 20, 2007 500 ml bottle, via Saarlander. Pours a clear dark amber colored body under a generous two finger foamy beige head that left lots of heavy lacing. Aroma is very clean. Nutty malt with a slight grainy character. Notes of tobacco, coffee, and oily leather. Nose is slightly grainy toasted malt up front fading to a sweet malty finish with notes of leather, smoke, and toffee. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation. Finishes a little sticky with some risidual sugars. This was a really good Dunkel. Full of flavor and never thin or watery. Top rate stuff! Like most of the Ayinger beers I’ve had, this one is well-balanced, with an instant attack, sharp brown ale-like taste, and clean, slightly lingering aftertaste. mybrainhurts (213), North Dakota, USA
