Commercial Description:
Dark chocolate in color, you can see a wonderful reflection if you hold it up to the light. It is round and soft with the warm, sweet aroma of freshly roasted malted barley. A satisfying, malty taste, with coffee-ish tones and a hint of plummy fruitiness in the finish. Complex and beautifully balanced.

500 ml bottle, via Saarlander. Pours a clear dark amber colored body under a generous two finger foamy beige head that left lots of heavy lacing. Aroma is very clean. Nutty malt with a slight grainy character. Notes of tobacco, coffee, and oily leather. Nose is slightly grainy toasted malt up front fading to a sweet malty finish with notes of leather, smoke, and toffee. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation. Finishes a little sticky with some risidual sugars. This was a really good Dunkel. Full of flavor and never thin or watery. Top rate stuff!

Dark copper pour with a light tan foamy head. Rich aroma of malt and chocolate. This beer has a smooth entrance of malt, chocolate, toffee.

Dark brown color with malty sweet aroma. Flavor is good roasted malt with sweetish start and a lightly bitter dry finish. Slightly thin on the palate.

500 ml bottle. Nice clear dark-copper color with moderate foamy head. Very enjoyable dunkel. Like most of the Ayinger beers I’ve had, this one is well-balanced, with an instant attack, sharp brown ale-like taste, and clean, slightly lingering aftertaste.

Light roasted malts, toffee, and mild caramel nose. Flavors are similar to aroma and easy drinking. A tasty Alt, even though a bit watery.

Draught Foxy-copper colour; fine amberish head. Sweet, very bready, coffee cream nose, bit nutty. Dry, chestnut taste with background sweetness. Finish also very dry, gum, woody. Medium bodied, a tad of dry-out effect. Very good Dunkel, definitely one of the best on the market. Aroma-filled, very sturdy at the same time.

Pours a toasty dark amber with a big tan head, thinning rapidly, probably from my eating. The nose is sweet, really really sweet. Sticky sweet malt, very heacy on caramel and toffee. A hint of chocolate-like roast. Theres some fruit too. The palate is very middling for a lager. Not refreshing and liquidy, yet not full of substance. It’s good on the carbonation front, and nice, but just not to style. The flavors are a bit better. Still very very very sweet. Big toffee, a little bit of butter, some lite chocolate and roast. The finish is creamy and smooth, the aftertaste has an aspartame like sweetness to it. Not bad, but not quite my cup of tea, this needs something more than these subtle haulertau-like hops to balance it out.

Poured deep red with off-white head. Mediciney aroma among the malts. Flavour of malt and toast, no coffee notes at all. Mediciney notes among the finish with the fruit. It was OK, but there are many better dunkels around.
