| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 16, 2006 Poured from a bottle into a lager glass, this gem developed a lasting, creamy, tan head. Close examination of the body revealed a gorgeous deep chestnut hue that was clear and bubbly. Initially the aroma had a short burst of hops, but the specifics escaped me before the aroma morphed into a rich caramel-like maltiness. Shortly thereafter I also smelled a tiny bit of fruit. Much to my surprise, this had one of the most dynamic aromas I’ve experienced in a beer. The taste was crisp and a little spicy with some smoother, sweeter malts for balance. I could be going crazy, but I also thought I noticed the slightest bit of smoked malts in the finish. The beer was medium- bodied and very refreshing. I’ll have this one again for sure!
