Commercial Description:
Dark chocolate in color, you can see a wonderful reflection if you hold it up to the light. It is round and soft with the warm, sweet aroma of freshly roasted malted barley. A satisfying, malty taste, with coffee-ish tones and a hint of plummy fruitiness in the finish. Complex and beautifully balanced.

Poured a nice brown, a bit smokey, didn’t seem too sweet for me, actually had a very good flavor. I liked this one qiute abit, Another good brew from Ayinger!

Pours a lush brown with a nice head of foam. Aroma is 99% molasses, and that doesn’t sit very well with me. Flavor is molasses, roasted malt, and faint hops. A bit watered down in the palate. It needs a more vibrant flavor to push it over the top towards being a great beer. Otherwise, it’s status quo. Still, not a bad beer; just could be a lot better.

pours a brownish color, with a small tan compact head, aromas of fruit, raosted malts and sweetness, the taste is dry and bitter, cofee-like, not bad, just not my thing.

Semi-sweet and dry, flavor is of malt, coffee and raisins with a smoky undertone. A little weak on the overall flavor, but that might be due to the beer I just had. Try again & re-rate.

Malty aroma, vegetably. Reminds me a bit of chicken broth or cheap gravy and mashed potatoes. Pour was a deepish yellow/brown, with a decent head and no lacing. Flavor was big on vegetables... if I actually ate mine, I may be able to identify which ones :) A bit of maltiness as well but an overly watery palate doesn’t allow much flavor to come through.

Reddish-brownish, slightly hazy, with a dense light brown head. Really nice aroma kind of a pumpernickel bread along with some sweetish, fruity notes. Flavor is nocely toasty, with hints of raisin. Slightly peppery, smoky finish.

Easy to rate. Simply may very well be the best Dunkel out there. See the commercial description and the good ratings. Then imagine the beer is actually better. Taste. Affirm.

Bottle: Reddish copper, translucent, large foamy light beige head, nice lacing, but virtually no carbonation.   Dark bready aroma, slight fig or date.   Toasted malt on the tongue with a definite smokey aspect to it.   The smoke aspect, or charred wood, is stronger here than in any other Dunkel I have had to date.   Fairly big bodied with a moderate mouthfeel.   Malty finish, not as bready as on the nose, with lingering charred wood.   Good, but a little unexpected.
