thechandler (268), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA Jun 24, 2009 Nice and roasty. A bit fruity. Oranges and lemons. Caramel too. This is kind of all over the place. I lik eit. Ryan82SM (229), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Jun 6, 2009 Toffee, light coffee, sour apple and bread aroma. Cola-like appearance, with a creamy low carb. head. Flavor has plenty of toffee and sour apple with some brown sugar as well. Palate is bubbly and creamy. A pretty good dunkel. oteyj (713), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA May 31, 2009 Pours a clear brown with a slight reddish tint and small white head that dissipates rather quickly. Aroma is plum, raisin, peace, fig, and a candy like malt. Sweet dark fruit notes are accentuated in the malt character, subsiding into cherry and cranberry. Flavor starts with a mild resinous hop presence and flows into a somewhat sweeter, overripe fruit nature. Palate is lightly prickling, and silky, but not syrupy. Leaves a sugary coating with mild dryness. Very nice. Vertical Bacon Strips (874), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada May 29, 2009 First thing: Took off the cap - smelt exactly like dry cat food - exactly - that is a dead-on smell as I’ve ever had. I don’t care what anyone else has said in their reviews, if you have a bottle of this, get some dry cat food and compare when you open - it’s dead on - every other review is sub-par on aroma. Still does in the glass - that sweet, dry cerealish....can’t get around that. Guess I like cat food cause this beer is awsome! A modest head arose then disapeared leaving a closer to tan than white coating. The taste is what makes this beer. Still some dry cat food hanging around (I’ve tried all my cats food before, so I guess I’m an expert) but it’s better than average dry hoppy finish, mild malts and slight sourness is what really impresses me. Beautiful reddish brown looks killer in my glass which is quickly getting more and more empty due to endless sips. Creamy dry bitter malty finish. Excellent. Remember - Dry cat food in liquid form. Don’t think about that too much or you’ll start to feel sick. pumpmaster (473), Pembroke Pines, Florida, USA May 27, 2009 0.5 liter draft at the Ayinger Restaurant in Munich, Germany. Excellent! PapaSkeetSkeet (65), , Massachusetts, USA May 15, 2009 smells of sweet malted barley, a bit of apple cider. metallic chocolate. light brown head. smooth lightly burnt malt short aftertaste. very nice. noompa (130), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 2, 2009 500 ml. bottle (2008) poured into a lager glass. Pours clear copper (not chocolate as per the commercial description) w/ a thin, fast-disappearing head. No lacing/stickiness of head. Strong apples, sweet malted barley, brown sugar in aroma, slightly metallic note as well. Notes of coffee, caramel, apples, plums, mild bitterness if at all in flavor. Finishes watery, long and sweet. Thin-Medium bodied, caramel stickiness. Fruitier than I would expect from the style, but tasty nonetheless. Nose develops marzipan upon warming w/ a lactic sourness coming through to finish w/ some smoke. yemenmocha (344), Glendale, Arizona, USA Apr 23, 2009 Pours dark amber to light brown with thin head that doesn’t last. Nose is surprisingly tepid with some light toasty brown bread aromas. Palate is toasty, a little malty, with some very light caramel. Very thin bodied and easy to drink, but not watery like U.S. macros.
