Commercial Description:
Dark chocolate in color, you can see a wonderful reflection if you hold it up to the light. It is round and soft with the warm, sweet aroma of freshly roasted malted barley. A satisfying, malty taste, with coffee-ish tones and a hint of plummy fruitiness in the finish. Complex and beautifully balanced.

Bottle. Roasty malt aroma with hints of dried cherries and butterscotch. Deep clear brown with a nice tan head. The flavor is sweet with chocolate and toffee and a slightly sour after taste. Medium bodied with a thin slick mouth feel, soft carbonation. This is a smooth easy drinking dunkel, a great example of classic German brewing.

Bottled. Dark reddish brown with tiny pale head. Dark syrupy nose, hint of metal, chewy nuttiness, raisiny fruits and little cocoa. Great, smooth flavor with bold maltiness, little raisins, cocoa and enough balancing hops. Medium bodied, quenching soft palate. A really nice dunkel, too few of them around.

2009 Bottle. Aroma of sweet malts with slight lemon. Appearance of light brown and almost no head. Tastes similar to Newcastle with an aftertaste of very dark malts. Very balanced and enjoyable, though for the money Newcastle might be better.
