Chocolate stronger in flavor with malty caramel, ends with mildly dry mouthfeel. Roasted chocolate lasts in aftertaste. Could be fuller, still nice brew. Flavor is yeasty and malty as hell. Smooth and a touch of sweetness. Easy drinking here. presario (2996), Calgary, Alberta, Canada

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 16, 2005 Big tan, creamy head over beautifully dark red/purple body. Aroma of very sweet malts, with notes of syrup and hay. Nice. The taste is again very sweet and malty, but is soon dominated by a smoky hay-like flavour, which lingers and fades. Subtle, yet complex, and very
interesting. An excellent lager!

Pours a very dark brown color with a vividly white foamy head. Aroma is a roasted coffee-like smell. This dunkel is medium in body for the style with a great roasted malt flavor. Has that slightly medicine-like taste of an Alt. Very good. JK (2961), Richfield, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Dec 8, 2006 This was very good. Light maltly aroma that reminded me of a Vienna. Black and a small head; nothing remarkable about the appearance. Flavor was a pleasant surprise, it had bitter malt and more smoke than I have ever picked up in this style, so much so it might fairly be called a smoked beer. Looking at the score I shouldn’t have been expecting anything unpleasant, but this greatly exceeded my expectations.
