Commercial Description:
Dark chocolate in color, you can see a wonderful reflection if you hold it up to the light. It is round and soft with the warm, sweet aroma of freshly roasted malted barley. A satisfying, malty taste, with coffee-ish tones and a hint of plummy fruitiness in the finish. Complex and beautifully balanced.

Clear tea-brown, moderate head with decent retention. Sweet breadcrust aroma. Breadcrusts, brown sugar, malty goodness. Really delicious!

Speis Und Trank, Munich. Clear ruby with a beige collar. Woody, almondy nut aroma with a hint of beefiness. A faint dusting of coffee and chocolate. Woodsy and thinnish with a very milky, mild-like coffeeish note, and some watery hazelnut/almond in the background. If this was a mild I’d mark it down for being too bland. Tasty, but vague.

500ml Bottle: Aroma of malts, slight caramel, and a hint of nuts. Poured deep amber/orange/copper in color with a medium-sized, tan head that lasted throughout. Clear. Slightly sparkling. Tiny particles throughout. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of malts, nuts, slight caramel, sourdough pretzel, and slight roasting. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Malt, nut, and roasted finish.

Reddish-brownish, slightly hazy, with a dense light brown head. Really nice aroma kind of a pumpernickel bread along with some sweetish, fruity notes. Flavor is nocely toasty, with hints of raisin. Slightly peppery, smoky finish.

This beer was really just absolutely amazing. I liked it alot. A very smooth and soothing flavor that is rich and malty, yet mildly compex and has a great full mouthfeel. A very dark auburn pour, with a huge frothy head. The aroma is lightly smoky and peppery, but it does not really shine through in the flavor. Other than that the commerical description really rounds out what I have to say about it. Indeed, it is beautifully balanced.

The aroma is sweet and chocolaty with caramel, grassy hops, grain husks, fruit, and lightly toasted malt. The appearance is dark amber with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma with a touch of cardboard. The palate is typical for the style. Overall a good but not great beer.
