Commercial Description:
Dark chocolate in color, you can see a wonderful reflection if you hold it up to the light. It is round and soft with the warm, sweet aroma of freshly roasted malted barley. A satisfying, malty taste, with coffee-ish tones and a hint of plummy fruitiness in the finish. Complex and beautifully balanced.

This is one of my favorite Ayingers. Deep brown color with a frothy thick head. Malt that is front to back in the aroma, repeats in the flavor. Just enough sweetness, but doesn't over do it. Worth seeking out as it's a real fine Dunkel.

One of my Wife’s favorite beers and one that I have enjoyed sharing with her on a number of occasions. ......Sampled from a 16.9 oz brown bottle this beer poured a rich, deep mahogany color with a huge, slowly dissipating head. Slight aroma was moderately malty and had a touch of molasses. The flavor was strong with toasted malt flavors and hints of caramel and molasses. Excellent.

Reddish-brown color. Some nut and chocolate aromas. Average carbonation, but enormous head. Malt dominates the flavor profile, which has some dark bread qualities. There is also a tad of sweetness, mostly apparent in the aftertaste. Not much in the way of hops. Finish is a little off; I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it just needs to finish differently. An okay beer, though, overall.

From a 500ml bottle--poured a rich chestnut amber-brown body with a fluffy beige-tan head. Robust, sweet, malty nose reminiscent of candy sugar and brown sugar. Roasted and toasty flavors almost smoky but more like dark chocolate. Very complex with different flavors coming to light with each taste. Nice brew!

Bottle from Bev Mo La Mesa. Pours a deep, dark amber with a off white head. Nose is abundant with chocolate, plums, raisens, and malt. A very good Dunkle.

On tap at Winking Lizard: Pours a deep brown with a light tan head. Aroma, raosted notes, caramel, some fruits. Flavor, caramel, and herbal and floral hop flavor, chocolate, some sweet malts, very smooth and quite delicious.

Pours a brown color, with a hint of red around the edges. Aroma is roasty and malty. Maybe a little bit of coffee in there as well. Flavor starts off with a little bit of sweet chocolate and finishes with a bit of burnt malt. Flavors are well balanced.
