Malt that is front to back in the aroma, repeats in the flavor. Just enough sweetness, but doesn't over do it. Worth seeking out as it's a real fine Dunkel. Slight aroma was moderately malty and had a touch of molasses. The flavor was strong with toasted malt flavors and hints of caramel and molasses. Excellent. Indra (2036), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 8, 2002 Reddish-brown color. Some nut and chocolate aromas. Average carbonation, but enormous head. Malt dominates the flavor profile, which has some dark bread qualities. There is also a tad of sweetness, mostly apparent in the aftertaste. Not much in the way of hops. Finish is a little off; I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it just needs to finish differently. An okay beer, though, overall. Angeloregon (2036), Portland, Oregon, USA

Robust, sweet, malty nose reminiscent of candy sugar and brown sugar. Roasted and toasty flavors almost smoky but more like dark chocolate. Very complex with different flavors coming to light with each taste. Nice brew! charlotte (2036), Vanlřse, Denmark

Maybe a little bit of coffee in there as well. Flavor starts off with a little bit of sweet chocolate and finishes with a bit of burnt malt. Flavors are well balanced.
