Commercial Description:
Dark chocolate in color, you can see a wonderful reflection if you hold it up to the light. It is round and soft with the warm, sweet aroma of freshly roasted malted barley. A satisfying, malty taste, with coffee-ish tones and a hint of plummy fruitiness in the finish. Complex and beautifully balanced.

This beer rocks! A great beer from a great brewery. Despite the commercial description, I would have to say that the beer is the most beautiful amber/mahogany I have ever seen. I didn’t know whether to start drinking it or place it on a marble stand with back lighting. Oh, did I mention that it tastes, smells and feels really good as well?

A very enjoyable brew. dark roasty/toasty flavour. Not bad at all, perhaps a bit thin.

17oz bottle-pours a foamy light tan head and copper/amber color. Aroma is sweet medium malt-caramel/toffee, some hay/wet blanket. Taste is sweet medium malt-caramel/toffee, some hay/wet blanket, some roasty/cocoa, some fruit, faint earthy hops. Soft carbonation. Easy drinking malty beer.

Draught Foxy-copper colour; fine amberish head. Sweet, very bready, coffee cream nose, bit nutty. Dry, chestnut taste with background sweetness. Finish also very dry, gum, woody. Medium bodied, a tad of dry-out effect. Very good Dunkel, definitely one of the best on the market. Aroma-filled, very sturdy at the same time.

Malty and roasty with butterscotch notes. The appearance is great. If this beer was a little more powerful and fullbodied it would be a world class beer.

Pours ruby red with a generous off tan head that laces the glass nicely throughout the sampling. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, and pepper radiate from this one initially. As the beer settles, some nice mellow clove like qualities emerge. Taste is of roses, cherries, and some tangy oranges. As the beer warms up, some nice chocolatey nutty notes begin to emerge. Finish is grassey and a bit bitter but not overwhelming. Full tingy mouthfeel.
