Pours a clear reddish brown that is a beautiful ruby when held to the light. A dense creamy beige head diminishes to a thin cap on the surface. The aroma is somewhat muted and is all about the malts: sweet roasted malt with lighter notes of chocolate, nuts, caramel and toffee. Light-bodied and lively with a distinctly metallic finish. The flavor is similar to the nose with a sweet caramel malt front and notes of chocolate and nuts. One addition to the flavor that was absent in the aroma is a lightly bitter mocha finish. I think that I’d like this beer quite a bit if it weren’t for the metallic quality that I get at the end. Perhaps I’m just super sensitive to any hint of "metal" in a beer, but that’s the same reason that I dislike most ambers. I pick up that same metallic note in many of them as well. dolemike1 (1129), Jeannette, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 19, 2008 Pretty decent overall, standard fare as far as Dunkels go. Smells and tastes really fresh, some dark fruits and spice follow through with a slight bit of banana, and some creamy nutty flavors. Not bad. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA

Taste is kinda sweet, slight roast. If offered for free, I’d take it. pineypower (1104), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 24, 2004 Pours out a somewhat transparent brown with a very small streaky head. Does not have a super strong aroma, but there are notes of malt. It has a nice malty flavor with some notes of fruit and a slight nut flavor. An awesome dunkel from a great brewery! robforbes (1099), Bremerton, Washington, USA

smell is of malt, grain, some cocoa, some caramel, some fruit, spice, roasted nuts, and bread dough.
taste is somewhat watery, malt, slightly bitter, some cocoa, roasted nuts, touch of prunes, ends a little dry and a little sour. Reid (1092), Salem, Oregon, USA

Nice enough looking dunkel poured in the glass chesnut brown with a nice large foamy white head..leaves great lacing.
Nice malty aroma.. milky , chocolaty..some hop aroma in back.
Taste is very sweet to begin with then darker ,bitterer tastes take hold..hop aftertaste..good but to "fizzy"
I did not enjoy the mouthfeel of this beer..its too carbonated.
apart from the carbonation level..this is a nice drinkable dunkel.
