Commercial Description:
Dark chocolate in color, you can see a wonderful reflection if you hold it up to the light. It is round and soft with the warm, sweet aroma of freshly roasted malted barley. A satisfying, malty taste, with coffee-ish tones and a hint of plummy fruitiness in the finish. Complex and beautifully balanced.

Pours ruby red with a generous off tan head that laces the glass nicely throughout the sampling. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, and pepper radiate from this one initially. As the beer settles, some nice mellow clove like qualities emerge. Taste is of roses, cherries, and some tangy oranges. As the beer warms up, some nice chocolatey nutty notes begin to emerge. Finish is grassey and a bit bitter but not overwhelming. Full tingy mouthfeel.

Bottle (best regard to joss): Dark amber coloured with red sparks, small, stable beige head; stronger aroma of roasted malt with a touch of coffee (almost a smoked aroma); slightly sweetish flavour with some bitterness in the wings; slightly sweetish, but later dry "roasted" malty and bitter finish. A light bodied goodie.........

500ml bottle pours medium dark brown with a tan head. Dusty, old, dry nose of stale bread crust and dried Munich malt. Flavor is just as stale, dusty, dry, and old as the aroma, some toffee and light toasted malts tasted as well, but overall not really winning points, but I fear that this may be too old of a bottle.

Bottle. A clear, brown beer with a small, beige head. Slightly roasted on the nose, with caramel and a weak note of anise. Sweet flavor with caramel, a touch of salty licorice and some roasted notes. Medium body and decent carbonation. Caramel, roasted malt and some fruity flavors in the finish. A pleasant dunkel. (080829)

Has a brownish/dark amber colour. Pretty head. Aroma is chocolate, malts. Flavour is coffeeish, malts and loads of chocolate. Has a strong bitter finish. This beer is worth more than one revisit.

(bottle, with many thanks to joss!) Clear dark ruby brown colour with a stable foamy beige head. Sweet toasted malt aroma with caramel, chocolate and herbal hops. Sweetbitter flavour, medium body, very smooth mouthfeel. Sweet toastmalty taste with caramel and herbal hops; medium dry lingering toasty and hopbitter finish with a lasting aftertaste.

From the bottle, this poured a deep mahogany color with a short-lived fizzy white head. The aroma is of sweet malt and dried fruits. Medium bodied, this has rich, sweet malt flavors... sweet, but not cloyingly so. There are also hints of fruit and caramel. Nice dunkel.

Clear dark amber color. Malty in both aroma and flavor. Slightly buttery. Spicy dry finish.
