Commercial Description:
Dark chocolate in color, you can see a wonderful reflection if you hold it up to the light. It is round and soft with the warm, sweet aroma of freshly roasted malted barley. A satisfying, malty taste, with coffee-ish tones and a hint of plummy fruitiness in the finish. Complex and beautifully balanced.

Tasty, with a hint of spice. Pours a golden-brown with good head. Finish was okay, but not as long or good as I was hoping.

This beer will forever exist as a milestone in my book. My father, a judge, has always tried to equate beer with criminalism, but with this beer he has finally given in and sat back and chilled the fuck out. Other than the obvious social implecations this has for me, it was a rather interesting yet modest beer. The complex malt has a definite sweet nature, but yields to a smokiness that is quite nice. Although a very attractive beer it falls a tad short in the aroma department (a tad sour) and has a decent mouthfeel, although it may be a touch to thin.

Pours a clear brown with a slight reddish tint and small white head that dissipates rather quickly. Aroma is plum, raisin, peace, fig, and a candy like malt. Sweet dark fruit notes are accentuated in the malt character, subsiding into cherry and cranberry. Flavor starts with a mild resinous hop presence and flows into a somewhat sweeter, overripe fruit nature. Palate is lightly prickling, and silky, but not syrupy. Leaves a sugary coating with mild dryness. Very nice.

Not outstanding, less flavorful than an excellent dunkel should be. Subtle. Not overpowering in the slightest.

(bottle): Pours a dark reddish brown color. Huge foamy, almost creamy off-white head. Good Lacing & somewhat lasting. Dark nutty, clovey aroma. Strong aroma of grape juice. Some smoke. Grape, nutty taste. Watery, wheaty & slightly dirty/dusty. Dark wheaty taste. Easy to drink.

Brownish red color. Huge initial head that dissipated quickly. Smooth and tasty. Coffee with sweetness, though also light on flavor. Lacks the confusing flavor of the only other dunkel I had that made it hard to rate. This one is a good beer overall. And it gets better as it gets warmer.

I don't find much of an aroma with this brew, maybe some carmel malt; the flavor is definitely roasted carmel dominated with a light coffee and doughy goodness; nice brew.

Dry, chalky malty aroma. Very grainy taste with overtones of maple syrup and slight coffee. Very nice, but I don’t know if I’d call it complex, really, just a nice, well above average dunkel.
