| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 23, 2007 Bottle: Pours a clear brownish red with a huge sized off white head that lingers around for a while. Aroma is fruity with some definite malt characteristics, sugary, and somewhat nutty. Taste is clean but a little clotting, some caramel malts, a light acidic stinging, a dark fruitiness, and almost grainy. This beer ends with a lingering malt bitterness on the palate. Overall, A decent dunkel, definitely not the best I’ve ever had of the style. HopsOrDie (687), New Lenox, Illinois, USA

Aromas of dark malt, yeast, and a slight smoke flavor.A fresh yeast taste with an underlying smokey flavor. Nice deep brown and copper colour, lacy head. The taste is slightly sweet with a buttery smooth aftertaste. AustinMilbarge (681), Denver, Colorado, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 5, 2002 Very rich malt character some definite barly notes all around. I really like the mouthfeel. To be honest, I find this beer almost too drinkable. Esch sip makes me want to keep drinking without pause. Very well balanced and full of complexity. A good offering. marchcow (664), Coralville, Iowa, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 11, 2005 From a bottle at The Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown, WV. Served cold in a quasi-wheat beer glass. Pours dark brown with a creamy light brown head. Medium lacing. Light aroma of dark malts—caramel, chocolate, and coffee. Flavor matches the aroma, but with added dark fruits. Very subtle. Not a beer that blows you away, but one that is clearly well-made and true to its style. Went well with wiener schnitzel and cabbage. I found the carbonation to be excessive.
