| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 9, 2009 A- Pours a dark red/husky brown hue, head is a few fingers’ of white creamy foam with good retention, moderate lacing
S- Nose is of moderately sweet caramel malts, a touch of coffee, chocolate, brown sugar, and roastiness
T- Initial taste is of roasted malts dominated by caramel and chocolate flavors, progresses to slight hop bitter/dryness and grains, finish is brief, overall very well-balanced
M- Light/medium-bodied beer, watery texture, carbonation is a bit amped up and biting, little residual on the palate
D- 5%abv means this is one smooth-drinking session beer, I really like the taste profile and aromas from this Dunkel style wxman (587), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 17, 2009 Pours a clear dark garnet/amber with a substantial light tan head that provides lacing. Nutty roasted malt aroma. Sweet roasted malt flavor along with some molasses and mild hop spiciness. Very good example of the style. A simple, but flavorful dunkel that’s easy to quaff. henry3r (586), Wichita, Kansas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 25, 2006 The 17 ounce bottle poured a deep reddish amber colored beverage with a small creamy off-white head that was mostly diminishing but left some lacing on the glass. The aroma was nicely balanced with notes of molasses, coffee and slightly burnt malt. The body was medium to full with a soft, smooth carbonation and a crisp, dry texture. The flavor starts off lightly sweet and then begins to take on a hint of tartness that grows through the middle and then levels off. The tartness lasts through the medium-long finish. The flavour is malty, sweet and spicy, but balanced. The aftertaste is quite long. Well done. wcampbell (582), Central, South Carolina, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 27, 2008 Very good for a dunkel. Nicely full bodied, but not overwhelming at all. Dark fruit and malt flavor dominates the taste. Not much else going on. Well balanced and very drinkable. Lightly sweet with a lightly dry finish. I am not a huge fan of the style though. hirigalzkar (582), Stockholm, Sweden

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 20, 2005 Very solid dunkel, but slightly astringent... almost sour. Not as malty as I would have liked after comparing it to the Kulmbacher
