Dark fruit and malt flavor dominates the taste. Not much else going on. Well balanced and very drinkable. Lightly sweet with a lightly dry finish. I am not a huge fan of the style though. Sweet almost cherry flavor. Balanced very well. Medium bodied. Flavor is very refreshing, almost dangerous. A little hop bitterness in the finish. Very, very drinkable. mdi (573), Nebraska, USA

Beautiful pour...thick rocky head, frantic craze of carbonation, beauty of a wooden brown color. Smells nice & malty w/ a light mix of fruit and nuts...Malty, nutty flavor is smooth & slightly sweet...body is light, making for a very tasty session beer. I think Ayinger might be one of my favorite German breweries. thehoff (569), Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 4, 2003 Nice dark amber/red. Foamy white head. Malty chocolate caramel smell. Sweet coffee bitter flavor. The bitterness is quite nice but doesn't overpower everything. It isn't an overload of hops bitter. Quite nice but I've had better. craftycarl21 (558), South Hero, Vermont, USA
