Flavor began with dark fruit and hints of chocolate. The texture is a bit thin, but the fruit is balanced by hop at the finish. A lager so good that it could have been an ale. heemer77 (4312), Savannah, Missouri, USA

A large off-whte head tops this. The aroma is cooked carrots with some bread crust. Also has a touch of chocolate and raisins. The flavor is a nice fruity mix of raisins and some light chocolate. It also has a touch of carrots. A fairly light mouthfeel. Another solid entry from Ayinger. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Feb 17, 2005 Strong plum fruitiness in the toasty and sweet malty aroma. Clear brown body is topped by a creamy cover of light tan head. Fairly sweet and toasty with notes of bread, plums, chocolate and toffee. Gentle bitterness in the somewhat dry finish. Very clean and malty. Medium body with lucious, soft, creamy, texture that slides easily across the tongue with a gentle effervescence. Excellent! Nice easy drink for lunch, a pint is a good serving measure. Sugar in there for fizz and sweetness. Touch of roast. Hops for some bitterness. Had a tap freshness to it. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 29, 2005 Bottle (500ml). Poured glowing clear deep mahogany with a small off-white head. It’s a mild nose, but there’s peaty malt, some darker fruits, a bit raisiny. Taste is syrupy dark fruits and roast malt, there’s a bit of chocolate and plum in there, again a slight earthiness, but this finishes like a dry white wine, not as long or malty a finish as other dunkels I’ve had. Very pleasant, I’d drink it again. Radek Kliber (4000), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada

Fairly refreshing, light (in taste) dunkel. I expected a bit more sophistication from Ayinger. beerguy101 (3972), Newark, California, USA
