Jun 27, 2009 500 ml bottle poured in dimpled mug. Pours cola like with a slight red hue with a small head that fades quick. Aroma is fruit. figs, some chocolate. Taste is about the same with some brown sugar lots of roasted malts. Finishes dry . very smooth and sweet.

Aug 10, 2009 Cuivrée et limpide, elle offre des arômes de boisé et de malt caramélisé. Saveurs légères et douces de malt et de caramel, légèrement houblonnée. Arrière goût agréable et léger.

Jul 3, 2004 Updated: Apr 10, 2005Pours a cloudy dark brown color, slightly reddish with an ivory head. Aroma had a faint spice to it with a malty character as the focus. Taste started sweet and malty with almost a mollasses teaser near the front and ended with a strong bitterness. There was a slight fruitiness to the taste and the spice came through only faintly.

Jan 18, 2003 Malty and roasty with butterscotch notes. The appearance is great. If this beer was a little more powerful and fullbodied it would be a world class beer.

Nov 5, 2007 On draught at the Winking Lizard (glass special). This beer pours a pretty burgundy color with a medium thick light beige head that diminishes steadily. Spotty lacing on the glass. Roasted malt, nuts and dark chocolate aroma. Medium-bodied with flavors of roasted malt, toffee and dark fruits with touches of chocolate and hops. The finish is bready malt with a nice lingering roastiness. Overall this is an enjoyable brew, as are the other Ayinger beers I have tried.
