Commercial Description:
Dark chocolate in color, you can see a wonderful reflection if you hold it up to the light. It is round and soft with the warm, sweet aroma of freshly roasted malted barley. A satisfying, malty taste, with coffee-ish tones and a hint of plummy fruitiness in the finish. Complex and beautifully balanced.

This is the best dunkel I have ever tried. Nice soft brown color with an off white head. Very malty and enjoyable.

From a 500 ML bottle purchased at "Keller’s IGA" in Cincinnati, Ohio - This one pours an aromatic, dark brown brew that smells of roasted malts and has a tan, thin head. Tastewise, this is a lovely dunkel, with just the right taste for the style for me!

Deep beautiful mahogany pour and a dense light brown head of foam. Big aroma of malt and caramel, flavor’s all malt with a little hops. Almost syrupy sticky and sweet. Love it.

Bottle. Beautiful burgundy amber color. Nice looking full head with mild lacing. Aroma of toasted crystal malt. Clean simple caramel flavors dominate. Subtle hop notes balance the maltiness. Excellent and smooth drinking beer.

One of my new favs. It pours in a deep chestnut color with a nice white head. Amorma is sweet malt, light toasted bread with hints of nuts. Taste is full bodied with a nice mix of sweet and bitterness. The palate last a nice long time begging you to take another sip.

Very clear rustic orangey-brown color with a beautiful spongey medium sized cap of densely built, organic egg shell colored froth. Settles down to a firm skim with some buttery bubbles. Lacing coats well in strings. Aroma has a well rounded nuttyness to it backed by some fresh baked wheat bread that has a slight toasty edge. Clean and inviting with a peculiar softness to its waft that grows a bit in strength as it warms. Taste is easy goin’ and clean with a nice softness to its overall character thats enticingly unique yet very Ayinger-like. Something about the combo of flavors and carbonation makes for a very pleasant experience bringing a nutty wheat bread grain that sits remarkably clean and well rounded. Fluffy and delicate in nature, yet just enough boldness in the flavors to raise the eyebrows more then once. Notes of dusted cocoa and smokeyish sweet malt play with touches of caramel. Bread tones dominate taste, form, and function with this one though. Feel is wonderfully soft and bready, warm bready is more like it; great, delicately precise carbonation with a semi-light chewyness to its bready nature. I liked everything about this beer. Its not a brute by any means in huge amounts of aroma and flavor. But whats there sets perfectly for what it is, its very natural tasting and feeling. The bread tones in all its characteristics are just right. A fantastic brew and sessionable to boot. Love those Munich malts! Mmmm...fresh breads...

A superb beer. A good chocolate, roasty, grainy nose and flavor. When I’m in the mood for a ’good’ beer, this one always springs to mind. I think this would make an excellent ’gateway’ beer to bring a novice beer drinker into the world of good, dark, rich beers.

Head is initially large, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is clear medium brown. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted bread, roasted nuts, caramel, milk chocolate), lightly hoppy (herbs), with notes of toffee, cigar box, and vanilla. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Mmmmm, waffles...drizzled with caramel and ground nuts (almonds, pecans). *drool* The only thing I like more than Ayinger beer is re-reviewing Ayinger beer. Seemingly fresh bottle, which helps the score...this ain't a beer to age. By the time I finished rating this, all 50cl was in my stomach...simply irresistable! Not all Ayinger beers are world class, but this is one of them when it can be had in good condition.
