Malty, plummy and even chocolate notes. Refeshing and intriguing. Light finish. Panzuriel (993), Westerville, Ohio, USA

The color, smell, and type are all build-up for a mildly disappointing taste. Still, a good beer. I was just expecting much more. WISEGUY572 (1246), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Dark well roasted malts, good bitterness, from the roasting more than from hops, sweet almost wheat beer spicey fruitiness and rounded mouth. Dorwart (1814), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA

Dusty, bready malt aroma. Excellent deep reddish/brown in color. Flavor is mostly roasted malts with a hint of coffee and some hops. A well balanced beer. Nice bitter finish from the hops. A very good dunkel. pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 18, 2005 Bottle: Reddish copper, translucent, large foamy light beige head, nice lacing, but virtually no carbonation.   Dark bready aroma, slight fig or date.   Toasted malt on the tongue with a definite smokey aspect to it.   The smoke aspect, or charred wood, is stronger here than in any other Dunkel I have had to date.   Fairly big bodied with a moderate mouthfeel.   Malty finish, not as bready as on the nose, with lingering charred wood.   Good, but a little unexpected.

Aroma is malty and showed hints of herbal honey and brown sugar. The taste is definitely on the sweet end, dark earthy fruits with notes of smoke in the finish. So quaffable that you basically feel the water quality used in this concoction was as good as it gets. Aftertaste is... fresh, like I had just brushed my teeths with more toothpaste than I should have used. Still, what I prefered about this beer is its refreshing lager character combined with a marvellous creamy round texture which makes you keep it on the tongue for a while before swallowing. Cheers Todd.
